Hello everyone, can I join your thread please. I am just waiting for my DMP pack from CCCS so hopefully I can start my road to debt freeness in December. I have heard that this is the place to be
Hello! Sounds like we're about at the same place with things, I'm waiting on my pack too - but my 1st payment is Nov 1st, not Dec. Welcome - we can all travel the rocky road to becoming debt free together! :beer:I'm 26, been with my OH for 8 years - we have 3 beautiful daughters and no debt collector can ever touch our family.LBM: 03/10/09 Unsecured Debts: 69K  DMP Start Date 01/11/2009.0 -
Hi ya,
Welcome over, made it here the other day!
Just putting the finishing touches to the letters to the creditors about the DMP which will now begin 1st Dec and the details the CCCS need too.
This is it, we are on the rocky road to becoming debt free, lets hope there arent too many bumps along the way! :beer:Total Debt : £61,302.84 :eek:DMP with CCCS started 1.01.2010Debt Free in 13 Years 1 month, hopefully sooner as things improve and they stop interest/charges!!Long Hauler #188 DMP Member 353Thank you so much to all posters :beer:0 -
I sent out our Notification of DMP letters almost 2 weeks ago, it seems none have been received yet. Flippin' post
Anyhoo, MBNA called me this morning saying my DD had been cancelled and could I pay on the phone....ermmm.....no. :rotfl:I explained that we were going on a DMP (I was already paying a reduced agreed amount and they have already stopped interest and charges). The lady was actually very pleasant. Just explained to me that that's fine and just to make sure CCCS payment gets to them OK as sometimes she said the first one gets delayed or goes to wrong account or somethingI said I'd make sure they got it so I'm not worried. I wasn't going to answer the phone but actually glad I did as she said it was OK I hadn't paid this month and she was totally fine with it as long as they get their DMP money next month. Usually when I missed a payment before they were brutal :rotfl:

OMG that's good to hear, I've got MBNA too and they are usuallty ruthlessly harsh. I'm still going to make a token payment for November seeing as our plan isnt going to start until the 1st Dec. I'm wondering if I should delay posting all the notification letters until Monday now?

Hiya Northstar and LittleMissSkint,
Yep I finally made it over here, to be honest I hadn't even noticed this thread. There is so much informatin on these boards its mind boggling!
You know what.... we could be the 3 muskateers!!!
I am sure we will all be kicking around here for a very long time so it would be great to catch up when we can, offer support and a should to cry on. We are in the same boat after all, we are all just starting out on our DMP's at the same time:idea: LBM 23-10-2009 - Total unsecured debt £39,638.65 _pale_
DMP starts 1-1-10 - DFD given August 2020 - but wanting to be DF by June 2016 _party_

I think you may as well just send them now, with all the strikes going on if you wait until they are over and the backlog is cleared it could be ages! At least once they're gone, they're gone. That's how I felt anyway! Yeah I was amazed at how nice the MBNA woman was. When I first started struggling there was this one particular woman who dealt with my account and she was a total moo. She was nasty and pushy and she was my worst nightmare for weeks. She was so rotten one time I got through to someone else and I pretty much begged them not to put me through to her, but they did. I said so many times I want someone else to deal with it but they kept saying she was my "account manager". Once I got an arrangement all set up and the charges etc stopped it got passed onto another department, who have been so much nicer to me  I don't take crap from them anymore tbh, I may be in debt, but I am still a person, I deserve a little courtesy. If they can't give me that, I end the call :rotfl:I'm 26, been with my OH for 8 years - we have 3 beautiful daughters and no debt collector can ever touch our family.LBM: 03/10/09 Unsecured Debts: 69K  DMP Start Date 01/11/2009.0 -

Yip, even with my DMP I am going to be around for a VERY long time :rotfl:
It's nice to have other people who are just starting out at the same time, it's not gonna be plain sailing! :rolleyes:I'm 26, been with my OH for 8 years - we have 3 beautiful daughters and no debt collector can ever touch our family.LBM: 03/10/09 Unsecured Debts: 69K  DMP Start Date 01/11/2009.0 -
Yep I will be here, the CCCS estimate 17 years and 9 months
Youre right, it wont be plain sailing but we will get through it together.
There are so many boards, I am still working my way around, sooo much to read and I always end up opening more windows and then cant remember where I was in the first place!

I don't generally wonder around the boards yet, I am starting off slowly :rotfl:
Looks like you and I are mighty similar, my DMP is also estimated at 17 years  But in 6 months I will be £100 a month better off when mortgage arrears are paid, so that will go to DMP. Then in 2 years the car will be paid off and that will be another £222 per month to throw at the debt. In 5 years my secured loan will be done and that'll be another £279 to add. So all in all in 5 years I will more than have doubled my DMP payments, so technically the DMP term should be more than halved
Plus if all goes well with my Sky interview today ya never know, I may get this job and that'll be roughly another £500 per month and I will possibly literally explode with delight. OH can clean the mess :rotfl::TI'm 26, been with my OH for 8 years - we have 3 beautiful daughters and no debt collector can ever touch our family.LBM: 03/10/09 Unsecured Debts: 69K  DMP Start Date 01/11/2009.0 -
I know what you all mean. I will feel so much better once we get those letters out to the creditors. We're waiting on that printer head replacement from Kodak for our printer, and then the letters will be printed and sent.
One more question - regarding postal orders for the token payments. The loans/credit cards are in DH's name, and obviously we don't want to give them his signature, so he won't be signing the letters. But what about signing the postal orders? Would it be better for ME to sign them? They can't then use that to come after me, can they? (colour me paranoid, eh?) I didn't know if they would say that since I was signing the postal orders, and making the payments (technically) that I am now responsible for the debt as well.
I've also heard people saying direct debits have been re-done by the creditor after they've been cancelled. If we add to the creditor letters saying something like "please do not attempt to collect payment from my bank account by direct debit, as it has been cancelled, and I am unable to give you any authorisation to take any further monies from my account by direct debit." Then they've received notification in writing that it's been cancelled and that he doesn't authorise it any longer. Or is this not necessary. Tried to word it so it didn't sound snotty.
