God, this is a scary time! We just cancelled all our direct debits for loans and credit cards by online banking over the weekend. Unfortunately, the direct debit for one credit card (our biggest balance on cards) went through before it could be cancelled - so £180 paid on to it this morning.
A bit of a stupid question - but if we cancel it through our online banking, that should be it, right? We didn't get any message saying it couldn't cancel, just a confirm, and request received response, which I have saved. I'm worried they'll continue to take money out and run our overdraft right to the limit! We have money going in tomorrow by automatic deposit, so we're withdrawing the equivalent amount plus our council tax amount, over today and tomorrow. We don't want the money deposited (child tax credits/working tax credits) to be swallowed up in case the cancellation of direct debits doesn't go through. We need that money to pay for rent and council tax, which is absolutely a priority, as we refuse to let that lapse at all! I'm going to ease my paranoid mind and call and verify that the very next direct debit in line to come out (a loan one for £280) has been cancelled. That's the biggest concern right now!
After we've taken out the ££ covering the benefits going in, there will be about 500-600 before the overdraft is maxed out. This sounds dreadful, but do we withdraw that so it can't be swallowed up in bank charges? Since we're going to have to eventually pay that money back anyway, I'd rather pay back money we can use to live on than money for bank charges, if that makes sense.... What has everyone else done??
We're off this morning to open another account in my name, at a bank that we don't have any debt. We looked for a Co-op bank, but there weren't easily accessible or close enough. Once we get that sorted, we're putting some cash in it, and then spending the afternoon calling to update the direct debits for certain bills such as life insurance, car insurance, and so forth and updating incoming money such as benefits and DHs pay. Well, that is, if we're given the account details - sort code and bank account number - I assume we will get that all today so we can start reorganising everything?!?MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good weekend!
Here's where I am right now:
1. New bank account up and running and wages have gone in. I cannot describe the feeling of actually seeing money in my account for the first time in I can't remember :T
2. I have my Payplan Justabank login details so I can see all my figures.
3. Buying my postal orders tomorrow for my creditors' token payments.
4. On the downside (and slightly worryingly), my Natwest card has gone up £60 because a credit expert payment has been added, and my Natwest overdraft is actually £1,200 higher than I told Payplan because I gave them the figure it was at the day I phoned them
Please could I have a number so that I can make myself a lil sig?

Morning all!
Sounds like we are in exactly the same boat.
Happy Birthday Little Miss Skint! :beer:Hope you have a lovely day!
I'm still waiting for my new bank account details too, they have been on the way now since the 17th. I'm a bit behind you with the DMP, we were meant to start on the 1st Nov but because of the postal stirkes everything got a bit delayed and it wil be teh 1st Dec now. Now I need to decide if I send all those letters and paperwork off to the CCCS and creditors before the strike begins again or hang on until nex Monday and post then......I suppose I should get it all posted off shouldnt I......
triggles,we went for coop, its about 30 minutes away but once opened up you can pay into a post office and take cash out there too. It really was the only option because we have many debts with many people, lucky for us they were there really.
As for withdrawing the money, YES YES YES. I would and I will be once my money goes in next week, can't take any chances.
Also, the bank just notified us that they are withdrawing our overdraft facility on the 1st December so all the more reason to get it out quickly.
Scary stuff but a good feeling to be in control a bit of our hard earned cash eh!
Completely confused - well done you! I hope to be saying the same thing when my wages etc gets paid into my new account in the next few weeks and knowing it will be safe to pay for the important things.
This is going to take us a bit of time to sort out but I am sure we can all breathe a bit easier when it is.
Have good day everyone.Total Debt : £61,302.84 :eek:DMP with CCCS started 1.01.2010Debt Free in 13 Years 1 month, hopefully sooner as things improve and they stop interest/charges!!Long Hauler #188 DMP Member 353Thank you so much to all posters :beer:0 -

Thank you! We're back from the doctors now and I'm sitting have a well earned cuppa and 5 minutes peace!
I sent my paperwork to CCCS the Thursday before last, and called them up on the following Tuesday and they confirmed they had been received and processed and the welcome pack was on it's way, that's been a week it's been in the mail now - it should appear soon though. Hopefully before the strikes start again this Thursday. I'd say just send it off, even if it gets delayed you'll feel better just for having done it. I did!
I'm so nervous waiting on our new bank account details, if they don't come in time to change the DDs and Wages over there's gonna be big trouble this month! Maybe I should have opened the bank account before I sent the paperwork to CCCS, but I didn't know it would take this long
I would empty the account too, take what you can. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. I have emptied OH bank account and it will stay that way now, assuming the wages go into the new account on the 13th (if the details ever arrive!!!). :rotfl:
I opened my basic account with NatWest, as we have no debt with them and they let me open it online, without having to take ID into the branch and everything, so it was really quick and easy.I'm 26, been with my OH for 8 years - we have 3 beautiful daughters and no debt collector can ever touch our family.LBM: 03/10/09 Unsecured Debts: 69K  DMP Start Date 01/11/2009.0 -
How about if you ring them up to ask for the account number and sort code? I did with mine as my new card just arrived today without the account info...... well it was on the card but I just wanted to be sure it was all right lol. So now I've got the details I need to move everything over,

I got a letter from CCCS at the weekend saying that Halifax have told them they are not aware of the account for our loan. The next day I got what I think is a default notice from the loan. This loan is a joint account with my EX but they havent sent him anything - just me - why is that?
Has anyone had this before where a creditor is trying to deny accounts in order to stop payments being made and demand full payments? Its very strange... I definitely have the right numbers etc I know they have recieved my i'm going on a DMP letter because I sent it along with my change of address letter - to which they are now writing.
They are really my only worry at the moment!Hey, Soul Sister0 -
Afternoon all, hope you are all well?
Had to laugh today after receiving a letter from Littlewoods telling me that because I am a good customer(haha I did laugh at that statement) I am entitled to the silver reward of 10% from my next order!
It just made me laugh knowing they are on my DMP and to think a few years ago I would have thought wow wee! get the catalogue and order a few hundred pounds worth of stuff all because of 10%!You can sort of understand why I still owe them £1.5k
:o:o
Needless to say I ripped the letter up straight away, I wasn't even tempted!DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -

Started my DMP in September & capital one have defaulted me already (I hadn't missed any payments previously). Is this normal? Is this good? What happens now?
Also, had a letter from Halifax yesterday about their new charges on overdrafts from December - £5 per day for unauthorised overdraft. Mine is only unauthorised because they won't stop charging interest! I'm never gonna get it paid off if they apply charges of £150pm
Just giving this a bump to see if anyone knows anything about being defaulted?
ThanksLong haul supporter 1790
