I have started the ball rolling with payplan and have got a new bank acc. My wages will be paid in to there this month (hopefully) and then off we go!!
Just wondering though. Our morgage ends its fixed rate in Sept next year. Does anyone know if we will be able to shop about for a better provider or have to stick with our current off the high street (down a dirt track!) provider? I have researched our current provider and apparently they stick the rates right up once the fixed term is over and quite frankly we can afford that!
Cheers:beer:
To be honest, not sure how mortgages work on DMPs, as to whether or not you can shop around.
I've been with Nationwide for 6 years, and when the last FR finished, I dropped 4% onto their SVR. Now I'm not sure who you're with, but I'd be surprised if they whack up your rate when the FR finishes, unless you're currently on a very low FR. It should also be noted that I also have a small OD debt with Nationwide, who passed onto Moorcroft. other than that, I've had no issues with them.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Hi,
Well we got a letter from natwest today saying they will accept cccs proposal, but they will review it at anytime, just making sure we know they can change their mind at anytime and that they can take their kind gesture away at a moments notice! They didn't however actually state they will stop charges and interest.
Does anyone know if cccs request this on your behalf in their dmp letter to creditors?
Anyway we ventured out today after nearly a week of us all being really unwell with a sickness bug.
Hope your all ok. TF x0 -
Hi, please can I join the group and have a number.....
I first posted last night, as a new user I cant post the link but my thread was called something like :Intro from someone new plus advice please
I am in this for the long haul with my other half, the CCCS estimate it will take about 17 years to pay off our debts  but we are hopeful that something good will come out of all of this mess.
Looking forward to getting to know you all and hopefully helping some of you as well. I have spent the last few months reading as much as I can on the site before I plucked up the courage to post........and here I am.#
Our DMP with the CCCS was due to start on the 1st Nov but what with the delays due to the postal strikes it won't be happening now until the 1st December. In the meantime we are making our token payments and crossing our fingers that no one else will take us down the 'blue and white court papers' route.
Many thanks!
p.s. what happens with the number I get? Do I just put it in my signature?Sorry for the naff question! taTotal Debt : £61,302.84 :eek:DMP with CCCS started 1.01.2010Debt Free in 13 Years 1 month, hopefully sooner as things improve and they stop interest/charges!!Long Hauler #188 DMP Member 353Thank you so much to all posters :beer:0 -
I did the online debt remedy through cccs and it stated we needed to make token payments as we don't have any available money to pay to creditors, which is basically true at this point. We'll be going online tomorrow and cancelling what direct debits we can, and applying for a bank account for me on Monday. All the debt (except for overdraft in our bank account) is in DH's name. Hopefully it won't be a hassle to switch our benefits over once I get an account on my own.
I am puzzled how we are going to dig ourselves out of this or what the reaction is going to be when we don't anticipate our situation changing for a couple years until both children are in full time school. Because DH works shift work (and my work experience would involve a job with shiftwork as well), childcare is extremely difficult to organise. And while we do have family nearby, they are not in a position to provide childcare for an infant and an extremely active toddler by any means (one is disabled, one is elderly with health problems). If we tell them we'll pay a token or small amount, and then every six months raise that amount (even if it's just by a couple quid), will that satisfy them for awhile?
DH is now on board with the whole DMP, however, does not want to have it managed by an organisation, although he is quite happy for us to speak to them and get advice. I understand quite a few people on here are self-managing their DMPs....is this reasonable? I can understand why he feels this way, and if it becomes a problem, we can always enter into a DMP with cccs at that point, is that correct?
My big concern is that one of the creditors will attempt to force him into bankruptcy. That would be extremely difficult, and I'm hoping that won't happen.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -

Can I confirm they don't just mean to make token payments until something is setup, as you don't have any surplus available, or that they recommend a low start DMP (Normally anything over 10 years in length I guess?).DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -

Hi Everyone, haven't posted in a while as nothing has really happened, all the phone calls have stopped and hadn't had anything in the post until 2 days ago when I got the 'severe hardship' letter in the post from MBNA, it said they will freeze all interest and charges etc etc, but when I looked on the Justabank website it says that MBNA have rejected the offer for all 3 of my cards (also have virgin and alliance + leicester) I have also had an email from Virgin to say they have put me on 'severe hardship' thingy too and a letter is in the post - but nothing from alliance and leicester??
It says on justabank that tesco and mint have also accepted although I have had no calls or letters at all from either company.
My Barclays bank account and both Barclay cards all say 'pending' so I guess they haven't decided yet?!?!
Anyway just thought I would let you know how it's going - bought a few xmas presents on friday with cash that I had saved...... and it felt good!:jGoal weight....lighter than when I started0 -
HI Gpuk, I had exactly the same from MBNA saying servere hardship and then a letter from cccs saying they wouldn't except it! They dont know what they are doing, do they!0

Good morning everyone!
Another week begins! Hopefully my DMP welcome pack will arrive today :rotfl:I'll give it until Wednesday and then give them a call as I know it should be on it's way. Flippin' post strikes. My new bank account details haven't arrived yet either, I really need those so OH can tell his employer before the next pay date (13th Nov) don't wanna take chances on Nationwide taking all our money! I'd be screwed and wouldn't able to pay the mortgage or food or anything! So just want it all to be ready!
Today is my 26th birthday so I'm gonna try have a day off from worrying about debts and DMPs! :rotfl:I'm gonna take my 6 year old to school then my 4 year old to the doctors for 10am then spend the rest of the day having fun (free frun :rotfl:) with my 4 year old and my 2 year old. We'll have a nice girls day in until Daddy comes home
I hope everything is going well for everyone... xxI'm 26, been with my OH for 8 years - we have 3 beautiful daughters and no debt collector can ever touch our family.LBM: 03/10/09 Unsecured Debts: 69K  DMP Start Date 01/11/2009.0
