    How about
You - 'I'd like to close my account please'
    CC Company - Hogwash,hogwash,waffle,confusion
You - 'You find that difficult? -then I'd like to borrow £******* (insert your favourite lottery win amount here) By the way I've been on a DMP for the last X years and haven't got a hope in h*ll of paying you back. So now can we close the account?'

    Good luck and keep smiling![/QUOTE]

Ha ha I could actually have a bit of fun with this and ask them to send me another card, change my name, move and max it out then see if they will offer to close it. I am laughing now, but I wasnt this morning. My OH was glad she wasnt stood in front of me or I think I actually would have hit her, and I am not a violent person by any means.

I remember my brother (who doesnt even know what debt is) wanted to close an MBNA account after the interest went up and it took him 9 months! I remember thinking how ridiculous it sounded at the time, but now it doesnt seem so daft!

  • You'll find that it does get easier and there's no better feeling then seeing you're debts go down.

  • I totally agree with the above. I am about to make my 5th payment to my DMP and my 4th payment has just gone to all creditors from CCCS. It is a great feeling to see the payments going down rather than feeling like you are going round in circles, which I did for about 2 years!!!!

I am also having my review early as I now know how much my pay increase is actually worth after tax ect so hoping to increase my payments by £150 which knocks about 1 yr of my DFD. My private job is also going well, so that money is being squirreled away so I can make periodic additional payments to CCCS so hopefully that will help as well.

The two jobs mean I dont see my partner much but it is for only 9 months of the year and he knows how we will benefit once this is all sorted.

So, keep plugging away at it, its worth it.

  • My first payment is now showing on my statement still a very scary total, but I was really excited to see that the payments had gone out. A feeling of being in control, after years of a downward spiral. I'm sure I'm not alone in that feeling!

I found out what my payrise will be as well, and there will be some backpay in November which will really help with Christmas. I'm not going to contact CCCS until 6 months at least though as I'm worried that I have been a bit tight on the budget. Only £10 per month for car repairs and nothing for an 'emergency fund'. Also I've just received my electricity bill and will have to increase my payments as my monthly DD is not quite covering it.

Have just embarked on a major e-bay purge as we need to get some stuff done around the house, and it seems a good way to clear the clutter and pay for it at the same time.

Hope eveyone is having a good weekend.

wow, lucky u, what's your secret? Lloyds TSB CC are being an absolute nightmare with us. We started our DMP with CCCS on 1/9/09 and they are still phoning daily threatening allsorts and insisting on money to be paid over the phone. They claim they have had nothing from CCCS and told my OH the other day that they will keep phoning and charging us until we make a payment over the phone! Glad to hear they are being a bit more charitable where you are concerned. :T

  • Hi everyone, was wondering if anyone could give me some advice about Next. I received an e-mail from them yesterday telling me that they would freeze interest and accept reduced payments for the next 6 months :j My question is that they also said 'as long as these are received by the date on your statement (which is the 21st of the month) or they will pass onto a DCA. I know CCCS only pay creditors on 25th of the month so will they not accept this? Has anyone else had the same problem with Next? And if so, what did u do?

    Thanks in advance.;)

  • Hi katkins2 I had the same with Next. To be honest I decided not to risk it and squeezed out a payment at the beginning of September, so that I would always be ahead with my CCCS paymnets. Not sure if that's how its meant to be done, but I was just pleased to have a positive response, and didn't want to mess things up. Couldn't have done it if they had been one of my big creditors though.

  • Hi

This does seem to be a bit of a problem with Next, they have treated me really fairly from day one, but like you my CCCS payment did not reach them on time, well CCCS sent the payment on time but Next didn't process it quickly enough ( apparantly they receive one lump some from CCCS and then have to allocate it to each account ) fair enough, this must take a few days to complete, anyway I to was charged a late payment fee and my agreement cancelled, I telephoned them and explained what had happened, they were really helpfull and refunded my charges and reset my repayment plan up for another 6 months and noted on my account that CCCS payments arrive on 25th or there abouts, I'm now waiting to see what happens this month.

Thanks - I'm just hoping they receive my payment ok! DMP starts on 1 Oct so no payments have been sent to them yet. I need to contact CCCS though as they have said that they will accept from 5 October on my Loan acceptance but they won't get payment from CCCS until 25 so hope this doesn't upset the apple cart!

No secrets not sure why they appear to be so charitable, maybe cause I owe them so much and after 20 years of banking with them they have earnt a pretty penny from me! who knows, this is the first time though I have missed any payments with them since I started banking with them at 16! who knows really shocked though, just hope this isn't the calm before the storm!

Hope you manage to get things sorted out soon. xx
