Im an old guy that enjoys gaming.

Have ps3, playing Fallout 3 , which is going on forever.
    Play Resistance FoM on line.
    I play for a laugh.
It reduces stress, and keeps me brain going.

I use to love those old
    strategy games on the PC.
Panzer General etc , hexagonal boxes.
    And the Combat Mission series.

I know what you mean with fallout 3. I've completed it once but have only scratched the surface, and there are plenty of areas i've still to explore. There are special weapons spread around the map so take your time and enjoy killing super mutants.

I'm hardly 'anti' rock band/guitar hero, just wondered why it was so popular and, when I saw the adverts for 'rock band' instantly wondered how close the drums would be to the real thing. If fans of the game regularly hear these comments, I apologise.

I'm pretty sure I was talking about games though, i'm hardly posting about how best to prepare a roast am I?

Well to me and i'm sure other people thought that you were preaching a little. Its like telling someone not to play fifa football and go out and get a kick about. Its a common rant that people who dont understand gaming regularly do. Both sports/music can co exist with gaming.

This thread was meant to discuss gaming though mate, not why people game rather than other hobbies.

And discussing gamings exactly what I came in to do! And i'd argue that I do understand gaming within the genres I play games in - which aren't your get physically involved type games like guitar hero/ wii sports are. I've been playing rts and football management games since they first came out - which is a very different kettle of fish, gamings moved on a whole lot from when I was a kid praying for a Master System.

Incidentally I've broken my own personal rules about buying new games (see my first post) and 'digital downloads' as I am currently downloading C&C RA3 Uprising - only time i've ever done a digi download on a game before i bought a version of FM that I already had on disk. Doh.

Hoping Uprising shouldn't suffer from needing immidiate patching as its an expansion.... anyone played it yet? I just read some less than favourable reviews after i'd already passed through checkout! Got 20% discount off the game though!

I wasnt a fan of ra3 so i never continued playing it. Ive not seen uprising so I cant comment. Give us a little review after you've had a good go on it mate.
  • I like to chill in the evenings or at the weekend with a game or two. :D

I have an Xbox 360 (although am considering swapping it for a PS3)

I'm a fan of RPG style games and also some FPS games - ie. Fable 2, Shadowrun, Force Unleashed, LOTR: Conquest, Overlord 2 & Sacred 2. ;)

I'm signed up to Xbox Live Gold - feel free to add me if you're online -RichJ82 :hello:

And yes I do tend to grab pre-owned games from ebay or occasionally game. Unless there is one that isn't out yet. I do end up pre-ordering some of the newer titles.

And yes i do like smilies :rotfl:
  • im an Xbox player and PC player, but latley i have just been playing Batman: Arkham Asylum, its possibly THE best game i have ever played, and has definatly brought batman games out of the epic failure of all there pasts

I'm currently playing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on my Xbox 360. I would never have thought of trying an RPG, but I bought it after reading lots of positive reviews, and I'm enjoying it a lot. The game world is huge and there's so much to do, it's definitely good value for money.

My wife just ordered the Fallout 3 Collector's Edition from Amazon for me. Apparently it's "Oblivion with guns", so I'll probably enjoy that too. It comes in a metal Vault-Tec lunchbox with a making-of DVD, book of concept art, and a little a Vault Boy Bobblehead, which is nice.

My favourite games ever are probably still the Half Life Series.

My friend has an xBox and a WiiWii so I dont need to buy one :p Gears of war and Lord of the rings are ACE!

I've got AOE for the pc, I play that online on the eso thingy :)

I wanted to get one of them old arcade machines with the neogeo boards :P I think the retro gaming is much better, much more fun.
