Yes you heard me correctly blu ray for £35, you can get a Blu-ray reader for £50 now and all machines a spec include a DVD-RW drive at around £15, so of course if you replace that drive with the blu ray drive it is costs £35 more than the orginal spec. I really could build a PC which is better for games than the PS3 for that much, as mentioned the margin wouldn't be massive but it would be there, another advantage is the consoles are 720p or 1080p yet most HD ready screens are 1366x768, a PC will quite happily play games at 1360x768 giving a clearer image instantly.
You can trust me on this or if you want I can but a basic list together showing it is possible.
As I said most people have a belief you need to spends £1000+ for a gaming PC, don't get me wrong you can spend that much, but the reality is you don't have to.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

Sorry but I'm still cant comprehend a pc rig competing with console without spending an arm and a leg. I challenge you to prove me wrong. :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
KZ2 is pretty good but I'm definitely a mouse & keyboard fan when it comes to shooters. Necer got into RTS on the PC. Tried C&C and (more recently) SupCom, just never really clicked.4743hudsonj wrote: »killzone 2 is the dogs bollo***

Burnout Paradise is cheap right now i believe. I'm not a fan of it though. I dont really like racing games that are out just now. I haven't enjoyed a racing game since gran turismo 2.0 -
Last year I got a Q6600 PC from Tesco (£300) and chucked in a 9800GT (£100). That machine ears Crysis on medium to high settings on a 22" 1680 x 1050 monitor.
<snip>Percy those are pretty good specs how can you beat that with £400 pc hardware? I'm all for pc gaming but I cant imagine it beat ps3 or Xbox360
You can get decent PC's for not so much money if you just hold out.
The main performance boost is from the GPU. The 9800 is at least a gen up on the PS3 / Xbox hardware. The eye candy on the consoles just comes from them being able to optimise their code for a single platform.Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0 -
Meant to say, Rock Band 2 on PS3. I was in the states just before xmas and got the new controllers 2 - for my son's xmas of course...
Was originally intended as a way to introduce the kids to decent music. Now if they're trying vocals, it's a way to hear them kill my fave songsSpace for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0 -
Can you find a pc (provide links) with 512mb ram, 3.2Ghz(per core) processor, GPU with equal performance, surround sound card, Blueray Player, etcLast year I got a Q6600 PC from Tesco (£300) and chucked in a 9800GT (£100). I reckon I could build a PC that would beat the PS3 for about 400, but not with a retail or OEM OS included, and it would be using whatever current 'deals' and 'bundles' were available at the time, so the spec would probably change slightly weekly! I also wouldn't be including a monitor in that price, of course.
Oh, and I play some PC games, mainly your Command and Conquer types, although I've long since refused to buy any game thats not been out for a year due to software houses recent insistance on releaseing incredibly buggy and incomplete games, relying on 2 or 3 patchs in the first few months. If I was a big gamer, thats what i'd go in for a console for above a PC.0 -

Rock band 2 sounds fun if it was in someone elses house but i think with all the instruments it would just clutter up my house. I like the simplicity of guitar hero rather than rock band.0 -

I think you would have to build it completely by yourself and cut some corners to beat the ps3. And without Windows the games can be a hassle to get working. Linux isnt for games and pirating software kind of cheating too. I think the biggest advantage of consoles is the fact that games are specifically designed to run well on them. Pc software has to deal with lots of different hardware than can all cause problems in different ways.0
