Tried Sainsburys own instant porridge (syrup flavour) and kids wouldn't touch it, so I tried it and realised why - yeuch. Asda own is different to oatsosimple (I can tell the difference) but is fine.
.
Sorry to cut up your quote but I have a genuine question, why do people buy "instant porridge"? How is it any more instant than normal porridge? You still have to mix it with milk or water don't you and heat it in the microwave/pan? So how is it any quicker than normal porridge? Just something i've never knownStarted Comping 25th September 2013.

It's instant in the fact that in The Mornings, two minutes compared to twenty minutes, can make a lot of difference, why would you want to stand at a hob and stir forever, when you can add milk and heat in microwave for two minutes? I guess that is what was meant by the words "Instant", The Gazelle knows which one he would prefer0 -
Oh no, hope these aren't bixies as have just purchased a 48 box from Lidl :rotfl:
Just had my first bowl of bixies, I really didn't like it, it was like mush (might be as I have mine with warm milk, but this doesn't turn the branded weetabix to mush)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. We tried Salisbury's weetabix type cereal, tastes no different than Weetabix although slightly thinner, but then not bought Weetabix in awhile so they could be thinner by now
I also buy Morrison's own Coco Pops type and I think these taste better than Kelloggs.2011 Sealed Pot Challenge #1238 hoping for £250 ~ saved £743.32

I would never eat anything but Kellogg's Corn Flakes until recently. In an attempt to cut costs, I mixed Kellogg's and Tesco own brand 50:50, did that for a while, all fine. Then tried Tesco and Lidl 50:50, all fine. Now on Lidl or Tesco 100% and think they taste much better than Kelloggs - not as sweet and they don't go soggy as quickly. Tesco Corn Flakes are half the price of Kellogg's and Lidl about a quarter of the price...TRH

I recommend Nettos cereal. The cornflakes and "shreddies" are lovely.0

I like Sainsbuy's Weetabix type, in my opinion the stay a bit crisper than orignal Weetabix and taste just as nice2011 Sealed Pot Challenge #1238 hoping for £250 ~ saved £743.32

I buy Tesco's Rice Snaps instead of Rise Crispies - I think they tend to float around the £1 mark compared to Kellogg's £2. I would buy the value brand but it has a level of Barley malt extract in it which triggers off my gluten intolerance.
For OH I buy the Discount Brand Special Flakes (he normally has Kellogg's Special K) which is £1.33 a box rather than the £1.88 for Special K.0 -
Does anyone remember Lidl's Fruit Hoops? They were the perfect substitute for a popular US cereal, Fruit Loops.
For the uninitiated, they were like Cheerios, but fruit flavoured and coloured (all natural BTW). They were absolutely delicious, best cereal ever (apart from Lucky Stars maybe!)
They suddenly disappeared from the shelves over a year ago and the store staff have no idea why.
No other supermarket sells these as far as I know0
