I do so agree. I love oatibix but they are so expensive. I Like Sainsburys weetabix.0

Can't wait for someone to start selling own-brand Oatibix rip-offs. HOW expensive is that stuff? It's almost all I can eat for breakfast other than porridge...:( x x x
The Oat Weetabix stuff? Don't think anyone will, I don't think it sells much. Every one of the discount stores near us (and farmfoods) sells it for 24 for a pound, but never has real weetabix in for less than 12 for a quid.0 -
Hi,
I have been buying Aldi cereals for over 12 months now and would not buy big brands again. I buy Aldi's equivalent of Shreddies, Special K, Cherrios and Fruit and Fibre and they're a better product. Not only do they have half the amount of fat and sugar they're half the price ie. large box of Cherrios equivalent is 99p. Your palate soon get use to the less sweet taste and I find now if I have the sweeter brands say on holiday or at friends I cannot eat it as it's so sweet. Massively cheaper give Aldi a go.

Lidl version of coco pops is great.
Does the Aldi version of Shredded Wheat contain any sugar?0 -

I also haven't noticed them getting soggy quickly like some on here have noted so was beginning to wonder if I was going batty
. They are an absolute billy bargain IMO (75% cheaper than Kelloggs!)
No soggy quickly here either, always very crisp dry and wet out at decent rate. I did also notice someone says Morrisons value cornflakes are good. I go back on what I said I have tried nearly all value Cornflakes but not Morrisons as it is too far away. Next time I'm in Morrisons I'll check the value Cornflakes, if made in Poland I'll buy them, if Belgium I won't bother.
12 or 18 months or so ago JS basics Cornflakes were about 25p for 500g, I was gutted when they nearly doubled the price to 46p. I have them nearly every day and I love them.
I noticed a lot of the value cereals are made in Belgium, I think Asda and Tesco Cornflakes, Krispies and Cocoa Pops all are, tried all of them & returned them, they are all fowl.
Aldi, Lidl, Netto's, Asda, Tesco, JS own brand cereals are all pretty good with some preferences between them but none we have tried are uneatable. They all have a similar pricepoints per 100g. Overal Asda have had the best promo's on own brand cereal over the last 12 months in my opinion.
The problem really comes when trying to find a value product you can eat and eat repeatedly. JS basics Cornflakes does this for me and I actually prefer them to Tesco and Asda's normal own brand ones which my son insisted we try again. Other than those I can't find any others any good.
I have tried Asda Sunnybisks and Tesco value bisks and found them quite good. I eat them now and again but can't on a regular basis, I find them very hard in places and take a long time to soften.0 -
Unfortunately my OH prefers original Alpen over Asda's own, but i will give him credit for trying it for a while. But since all the other cereal i buy is own brand stuff then it balances out!
Have tried all the following and found them to be absolutely fine and cheaper than branded equivalents:
multigrain hoops - not sure of the price
smart price branflakes - 70p for 750g
great stuff multigrain stars - £1.47 for 375g
smart price porridge oats - 58p for 1kg
cranberry wheats - £1.75 for 500g
wheat bisks (not sunnybisk!!) - £1.15 for 24

Am currently munching my way through my first ever packet of Aldi 'Oat Bran Flakes with sultana and apple' and they taste fab and make a change from Kelloggs Sultana Bran.0

My little people prefer Lidl shreddies to "proper ones" as they are not as sweet. Tesco shreddies are ok as well.
They also like the Lidli crunchy museli type cereal as well, oh and lidl cornflakes, you get 2 bags in the box and they are really crunchy.
We only eat fancy cereals like frosties etc as an extra special treat!0 -

Sainsburys coco pops - I could'nt taste difference between them and kelloggs, try the mini sized sainsburys cereals that you get in an 8 pack, I find the frosted flakes and crunchy nut cornflakes in it good as well. I tried the asda version of special k red berries - it was'nt as good as the kelloggs0
