I am not in the slightest techy minded, so would be very grateful if someone could explain benefits of Firefox to me. I enter a lot of competitions every day, would this help in any way.

    Jill

Firefox is quicker and more secure than IE, there are also 1000.s of "add-on" which can be added on;) for free.
Imacros is one that, once you have done a task once (eg filling in all the questions on a competition) would allow you to do the whole thing again in seconds with a slightly different detail (eg son/daughter, OH)

If you google something like "why firefox" it will give you lots more reasons, than I could:beer:

No here's a techie question for you.....I renewed my broadband contract with BT...i have a Netgear router at the moment, bought from PC World...(had to pay for routers from Bt when I switched to them )BT have sent me a BT Home Hub2.0 for free....i understand from the bloke at PC world that it is superior to my Netgear( although that was £100 when I bought it)and will speed things up for me...not really a problem as I can see the exchange from here....so here is my question....if I change routers will it change my IP address?....TIA

If you haven't already..... then now is the time to upgrade to the LATEST version of Mozilla Firefox 3.5.1.
To get all the enhanced features, including video formats without having to download the codecs, and so much more, go to here to download it.

"The Firefox Web Browser is the faster, more secure, and fully customizable way to surf the web."......but they would say that wouldn't they;)

Do you think that if I have sent my laptop off for repair and re programming it would come back with this installed or will I have to install it myself :D:D
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

Generally people get mixed up between routers and modems (especially since often they are in the same box nowadays;))

The router changing won't make a difference, it is all set from the ISP (internet service provider).
As you are getting a new modem (the bit that connects to the internet) there is a good chance of getting a new IP.

With you being on BT there is a good chance that your IP will change if your router has been switched off for any length of time....BT forums would be the place to find that out;).

Typically for dynamic (as opposed to static) IP's will change if the modem is switched off overnight, and switched back on when you need it. This is due to the way that the numbers are "leased" out to the users on a first come, first served basis.

Static IP addresses (eg cable broadband) tend to have a longer "lease" of the same number....often two years, or until you terminate your contract.

So here is the answer;)....it all depends on the way your provider sets up their number allocation....and very little you can do, once the connection has hit your home, will make any difference to it.

But since they are likely to reset everything for a new contract, with new equipment....you will PROBABLY get a new IP address.
It's nice to be nice .....

It depends how good the repair shop is, and what instructions you have given them....
Some places would perhaps do it free if asked, most won't do it at all, UNLESS asked, in case you particularly like the previous version.
If they want to charge you for it, politely decline, since it is something anyone can do at home automatically;) with the click of only a couple of buttons

but since I downloaded this version when I scroll up/down the page/posts it does not run up/down smoothly seems to jerk/shudder - that is the only way I can describe the movement onscreen and it is really really badly affecting my eyesight and making me dizzy and with my health problems I am worried and wondering if there is anyone else with this problem when scrolling (I think I have found the right word) up/down and how can I stop it as I am afraid it is going to bring on an attack if not while at the comp later in the day - I never had this problem with IE but I did with the older verson of firefox although not as badly
Also I my security suite that i paid for is about to expire and I read on here months ago that AVG is a good firewall that is free - I jotted the name down at the time- and wondered if anyone could point me in the direction fo a genuine site to download from :DI am sorry if it has been posted before but I am time limited and with the trouble scrolling even more so at the moment - and wondered if there is anything else I need and if I can get it for free or am I best just to buy security again as a friend said that if it is free it can't be any good but hey firefox is free so:D here's hoping I can save money
Thanks for any advice/help that you can provide
    I am not a beige person:D

Unusual for firefox to be "juddery" sounds like something is conflicting with it:confused:
