You realise in cancelling the transaction and relisting is exactly what she wants you to do, I would send both pairs of shoes to the people who won the auctions... end of.

Dare I say that instead of just ignoring this loon you have actually made this problem yourself.

You had 2 items which where paid for, why refund any of them?

Make sure you add this person to your blocked bidders list while you are at it.

Your BF has handled this completely wrong - but since it's his account and he's now escalated the situation by taking the bait (the initial legal threat)...let him sort out it. It's his problem, not yours.

Years ago people used to use the old phrase 'I'm consulting/phoning my solicitor' as some threat that would hold leverage with people who were too stupid to know their rights. Nowdays, no one falls for this. Your reply simply should have been 'Your bid was not registered nor cancelled, we have no evidence of this, but feel free to consult your solicitor'. You would have never heard back!

Unfortunately, now it's escalated and it's quite possibly she'll try to pursue this further. I'm sure small claims courts are utterly fed up with minor ebay tiffs, so I doubt she'll have much luck.

If I was a 'nigerian prince' who had £2m pound in cash that I needed to deposit in return for a small fee, you'd be my dream 'client'!

Expect a couple of negs and a b8ggered ebay account.

Who is the bigger fool here? Her for sending the "solicitor" email (distressed my @rse) or you for doing what you have done?

    Madness..........

If you look at her feedback she's received quite a few bad ones (but oh wait, ebays no negatives for buyers means you cant see until you look through ) and she's also neg/neutral happy if you look at what she leaves everyone else! Such a !!!!. It even seems like she says a lot of items don't turn up... hrm. (This is why recorded is my saviour!)

My OH has told me I should refund the legitimate buyer, explaining the situation. I have done this, but I'm really not happy doing it, as she won the auction and it's not her fault someone's trying it on.

I also refunded the shoes the dodgy buyer paid for as I have no desire to deal with her if she kicks off like this.

Now you are in breach of ebays terms and you have agreed to supply the shoes to the winning bidder. You are going to get a negative and a policy faialure compliance which can make your items appear at the bottom of searches! Bad move

Why on earth did you come on here seeking advice, receive great advice (i.e. ignore this scammer) and then totally ignore the advice and do the worst possible thing?

What were you (and your boyfriend) thinking?

I bet her so called solicitor is her husband or family member who just happens to be a solicitor. What a load of hassle for you over a pair of old shoes. Theres some real nut jobs out there. I've been quite lucky to of only come across 1 on ebay.
Also quite a few people dont have anything else to do in their day other than ebay & obsess over a really trivial things where it then gets out of all proportion (solicitor involved)
