Sue if 8 weeks have now passed then please take this advice for now and ring the FOS and don't give up BUT make it plain that you are making your complaint about

    NORTON INSURANCE SERVICES LIMITED -

If you say Norton finance they will say they had no jurisdiction until 2007 and this has been the problem with Norton claimers.

First though you need to ask the FOS if

Norton Insurance Services Limited were members of the GISC (General Insurance Standards council) at whatever date your loan was actually taken out in 2004. If they answer "yes" they were then you then tell them that you have not had a final response but it has been over the 8 weeks since you first complained and no-one is taking responsibilty. They will then set up the complaint and although a long wait they will no doubt uphold it as this was a single premium.

    SUE don't give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think sue has been to the ones that sold the policy and it was Norton Finance. However, there was a problem last year with someone named "spoll" who was complaining for his parents. He made the complaint and the policy was sold in 2006 so after regulations etc BUT fos told him that norton were not regulated until 2007. ALL sales of insurance was regulated in 2005 as we know so i looked on the fsa register at the time and Norton Finance were there BUT (again sorry) they were actually appointed representatives of Norton Insurance Services. The FOS rightly told him that Norton Finance were not regulated but did not tell him that their principals were Norton Insurance Services and this was who the complaint went against at the FOS. Spoll then resubmitted his complaint and it went through. ALso troness came along and confirmed this too that FOS had got it wrong.

OK thanks for that one. That is making sense.

HELP!! I am new to this so bare with me, not sure if I am putting this in the right place.

Anyway I too used Norton Finance and managed to get a loan with Endeavour I was in dire straits. I have recieved a letter from Endeavour in response to my first letter from this sight in reclaiming PPI.
They have hit the ball firmly back in NORTON's court and say that it is them that would have sold me the PII and therefore my issues would be Norton.
They kindl provided the contact details for them.

Reading the previous threads now has me worried.

    Hello and welcome.;)

Yes it is that of the broker you write to, but not to worry, if you have a copy of the letter you originally sent Endeavour, send this copy to Norton Finance, also enclose a copy of the letter that Endeavour sent you, so they know you have already been that direction, and it confirms that it is that of Norton Finance you must go to on this.

I also had a loan with Endeavour, a few years back, different broker though, please post up for further help if required, good luck.

Hello and thank you for the welcome.

I have been reading all the threads for some weeks and then took the plunge to reclaim my PPI.

I forgot to mention that I took the loan out back in 2003, will that make any difference to my claim.

It should be okay, don't know when Norton Finance were covered as such though, by the GISC (General Insurance Standards Council) where the FSA taken over in Jan 2005, generally the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) are only able to investigate complaints if covered by these regulators, but saying that many who have not been covered have had their cases resubmitted to the FOS for these types of Single mis sold policies.

I would give it a go, definately try.
If you have Norton's paperwork, check them out as it should confirm on them.;)

    Thank you once again Di

I have looked at the copies I have and neither show if Endeavour or Norton are regulated. I have got the bit between my teeth now and I will not give up trying.

There was never any discussion about PPI when I took the loan. I would have been covered and I still am through my job which is very secure.

It just looks like they take advantage of people who go to them and are already in finanical difficulties why else would we use them.

MSE is fab, oly wish I had started the ball rolling sooner I have a couple more irons in the fire with PII, cc and bank charges.

    Its taken me long enough.:cheesy:

    Your very welcome.

Just a suggestion, but you can actually ring the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) and ask if they would be able to investigate this for you if you have to take this further, such as if the business (Norton) will not uphold in your favour, explain it was taken out in 2003 but a costly Single premium policy, ask if they would consider taking this on if needs to be, after giving Norton a chance to investigate first.

You have made a start now that is fine, it's only very recent years this have come about, not everyone are aware of these being mis sold, so you still stand a chance here, so good for you in trying for this, it is very expensive indeed.

    The FOS contact details here:

Please keep us posted, we will help all we can.;)
