Shame it seems to have been the last PL - kept the best till last, though, eh. Seems to have been a short series this time. For anyone with Sky, they been showing a nice RTE (Irish telly) show called Room to Improve where an architect redesigns people's houses for 'em (usually with a white boxy glass extension). It's just finished but should be round again soon. Well worth a watch.

That link is from August 2007. I'm assuming it was the previous owner who took 4 years to sell in a rising market ;)

i did kind of feel sorry for them in the end, what with that massive loss regardless of how they carved the property up. but they were sooooo greedy thinkin sum1 wud just throw ££ at the place. every1 likes a bargain nowadays.
what i couldnt get out of my mind was that whoever sold them the place for £1.1m must have been the happiest person alive for quite a while!
the lessons i have learnt from their mistakes are:
    a) dont get done on the asking price of a property which needs a lot of wrk doin to it.
    b) dont make a footballer/WAG palace in an area no1 will live in (even the tube station was shut down outside)
    c) dont put ur hideous/lairy and impractical designs on a place u plan to sell for a profit.

the program is like grand designs with a final sellin figure!!

I hope they keep the airconditioning units. Really suits the property.
    :rotfl:

Love the way everyone blames the builders for mistakes, when they're never on the site to supervise!

    Why feel sorry?

They took a gamble with their life savings. They lost.

I'm happy with a lot less. So why I should I bail out people like this when they can't afford to pay the bank back?

The blonde woman on the sausage factory episode is on Come Dine With Me on More 4 right now.

I recognised her when I saw property snakes and ladders and by sheer chance her episode is on right now!

EDIT: Looks like everyone else spotted her lol

It would be nice if they could compress the show and feel some of time showing how the improvements are made. Instead just get a before, footage of silly people talking and an after. There's enough silly people on TV already.
Why don't they show the projects in greater detail?
