On this bungalow bit. Is it wrong that lately I've started fantasising about owning a bungalow and I'm only 30? It's just that they are often detached with big gardens that tend to have traditional lawns and flowers as opposed to decking and shingle.:o
Not worng, your choice. That's why there are diferent types of properties. I've seen some lovely period ''bungalows'' gate houses. lodgers, or caretakers cottages on one level that I think are beautiful. One of the loveliest homes I know is a bungalow (post war) covered in greenery, it has a really good feel and is well loved and though I gues the bones of the house might be bland, it looks like something out of a fantasy novel, without tweeness. Its not my first choice, by anymeans, but its also worth pointing out it provides the ultimate longterm potential.0 -
the couples on this show are so shocking, I can't bear to post about them. Both overbudget, spending too much money on ugly things0

couple 1, lodge in norfolk, £27,000 over budget.
The man got excited hearing it was worth £450,000 but beeny says not a hope. So they move in to ride out the storm0 -
The lodge house looks terrible. The decor in the livingroom is so old fashioned it looks like an executor sale.0

couple 2, terrace house in henley, layout and decor, neutral and modern
Overbudget by £20,000
Wishing for £675,000 when first bought, need £647,000 to break even.
EA valued approx £620,000
They blame their timing. Beeny picking on their budget and contigencies.
They sell their home and move to Henley0 -

Right I'm a bit cross. The deal with the program is that we watch a pair of idiots do somewhere up and then fail to sell it, and/or lose money on it. Not - watch pair of idiots do up a place and move in. That's not Snakes and Ladders - it's just doing up somewhere like an episode of Changing Rooms. Who cares what the 'market value' is at the end. It's the despair and disappointment for the participants, and then the fun of finding it still on Rightmove that makes it worthwhile.
If they are not prepared to go to market at the end then they shouldn't be on the program. And that Norwich couple with a living room like a pub complete with stuffed fish, and a lookalike gargoyle outside the front of the house. Jesus.0 -

And another thing. Since when did people stop installing showers? If I want a bath that looks like someone just unwrapped it and dumped it on the floor I'll let you know.0
