Hmm. worryingly I like the sound of a copper kitchen.
I believe however I'm meant to be a cook in kitchen and save the other stuff for upstairs.0 -
After selling the Newport development a 'profit' of £8k was made, surely this would nearly have all been eaten up with other costs such as furnishing the 2 flats, Solicitors, EAs and Capital Gains Tax?
Didn't see the programme, but profit would be after the deduction of all expenses, not before it:wall:

Its never really clear though, is it. I mean the other lot Beeny was talking abou the profit on valuation not sale.so if the profit is imaginary who knows how real the expensesare deemed to be

If I remember rightly, didn't PL used to show a complete costing display on the screen, including all EA and mortgage costs? I think they did.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

About 30 mins ago I saw start of Homes Under The Hammer.. guy buys a house, previously used as a nursery/hotel.. for £91K at auction. Goes on to tell Martin Roberts... (at least I think I heard this correct)... that his parents owned the place and he grew up there... they sold for £360K a couple of year ago - and he's bought it back for £91K.
Got it slightly wrong but not by much.. just rewatched that part on Iplayer.
He grew up there.. his parents ran it as a children's nursery business.. sold it at peak for £325,000.... and the son has just bought it back at auction for £91,500. (Iplayer.. see around 09:30 onwards.) Now turning it back in to a big house in the Stoke area. In truth though... imo still way too expensive at £91,500.

Especially when 8k is below the CGT personal allowance (or was the allowance withdrawn with the introduction of the new 18% rate? As I haven't put a recent return in with a CGT section I am not fully up to date)Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Might make an old people's home - as long as they don't run out of capital and have to throw themselves onto the mercies of the local council?chucknorris wrote: »Especially when 8k is below the CGT personal allowance (or was the allowance withdrawn with the introduction of the new 18% rate? They definitely used to back when it was only one development per show. The developer would say they had x profit and Sarah would ask did that include costs like SD, mortgage interest and fees. They would say no, that didn't count and Sarah would tell them of course it did and then the figures would come up on screen.
One thing that the developers are benefiting from that has never been taken into account, afaik, is the discounts they get from companies for putting their products on tv. So if the developer puts in a £20k kitchen which they paid £10k for through the show, they add the cost the kitchen should have been to the costs.0 -

An allowance is still permissable, currently £10,100 per person.

Roughly, (Amount Sold for - Amount Bought for - CGT Allowance) * 18%:wall:

However, the long (brave) faces some of the developers are showing this new series I think, can be believedFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
