They were all nice people, weren't they. There doesn't seem to be many ladders in this series...
The twins... "we have heard it's not a good time to sell at the moment" ie we hope prices are soon back to normal, ie 2007 prices......Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
There seems to be less & less actual content on the show these days. Both houses had a lot of (quite impressive) work done. The more expensive property in particular had a double loft conversion etc - but it was completely ignored except for a 2-second mention at the end of the show.
Thanks for that. I was nodding a bit last night, so assumed I'd missed it by being away with the fairies for a while!:rotfl:0 -

£1000/week to summarise and research all property !!!!!! programmes available on my TV, limited to information which can be found freely and in under 10 minutes.
Oh and there were no RM links.
He/she/Newport, South Wales: found a buyer that took the two off their hands, 6 weeks after it went to market, for £235k the pair (making them £8k paper profit, so less fees/VAT etc and further interest payments) ... and he had worked on it full-time for 1 year, so he got £8k-munniez. = £0.
Other set, split a wide house into two semis... and (twins) moved into them to become neighbours.
Did the dude who worked on the properties in Wales full time honestly believe that a one bed basement flat in Newport be worth more than £100k? I appreciate it was nicely finished but the bottom line is that it's still a one bed basement flat in Newport. No offence intended!"For those who understand, no explanation is necessary. Those who don't understand, dont matter."0 -

There is nothing like a bit of "tanking" for upping the budget.
Do we all find the new "multiquote" button a fun innovation? It as easy as 123.
Oooohhh hadn't noticed it was there...going to have to play with that later! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
For an insight into living in Newport, try this thread.
There is a posting somewhere about super value drink & nightlife.

I much preffered the week befores characters. last nites were all very nice. i felt sorry for the (very) young builder who wrked for the twins. im not suprised he left it was a lot of wrk to oversee.
wud be good to see what the twins are up2 now - whether they have put properties on mkt or are continuing to live there. it could become a sort of 7yr saga - with a catch up every yr of the amateur proprty developers situations...........0 -

If he got paid for the job then what is to feel sorry for? Because the girls got gabby with him? In a few clips, he seemed to take care in the standard of work his team were carrying out.
They got lucky.. but should have sold.. and put it on lower than the lowest estimate.. to get shut of it quick and come out with some profit. Instead they moved in. Awful mistake.
About 30 mins ago I saw start of Homes Under The Hammer.. guy buys a house, previously used as a nursery/hotel.. for £91K at auction. Goes on to tell Martin Roberts... (at least I think I heard this correct)... that his parents owned the place and he grew up there... they sold for £360K a couple of year ago - and he's bought it back for £91K.0 -
I wondered about the twins if the drop in interest rates led them to be more able to cover the mortgage payments. This led them to think they could afford to move in and live there.
I think they are mistaken to think that property will "go back" to 2007 levels anytime soon, plus what happens when interest rates rise???

I didn't understand this. One minute they are flat broke, next minute they are moving in.
Noticeable that both developers took Beeney's advice this week. Maybe that is the message, if you listen to Beeney you can still make money.:rolleyes:I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I think they said their outgoings to service the debt that they built up, was £1800 a month .... Maybe as Ali says they had variable rates and their costs went down with interest rates.
It does make you think how many people are in the same situation. And what happens to them when rates go up again.... and house prices don't.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
