lou - I would advise not letting your boss pressure you too much. You are legally entitled to not feel pressure or discrimination to return to work and you should do your ML based on YOUR NEEDS and not your work's.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Lou - know the feeling, can you work out how much ££ you need to bring in and work around that? I'm taking 3 months off and have been told by some friends its too soon, and the baby wont know me etc ( i havent spoken to them since) but you have to do whats right for you, and your baby will need clothes, food and roof over head at the end of the day... is your boss being supportive? I always try to remember as well "on your gravestone you never want it to read I wish I had spent more time in the office"... xReceived £2,626.00 in PPI -2013:j

Looks like I will be in tonight too. BP is 151/95 sitting doing sod all but bloods are ok. Headache and vision get better then worse so some 'medics' are coming to see me plus lil ladies heart rate has been quite high at times. They may start me on low dose BP meds, will wait and see.
My bloody phone battery went last night and I've no book or mag to read so bored out my brain.

Little Miss/Mr Honeypop is still hanging in there!
Been for a sweep with the midwife at my surgery this morning as now 1 week overdue.
Wasn't as bad as I had heard from other people and their scare stories, yes it was uncomfortable but to be expected! She said she gave it an extra hard go aswell lol. She said I was 1cm dilated and cervix is thinning, she poked through and said the membrane is bulging a lot and waters will most likely go anytime now, and she prodded the babys head! If nothing happens by Saturday I have to go to the hospital for another sweep at their drop-in clinic, but she says going by what she felt, chances are it will all kick off before then.
I really hope so!0 -

What is wrong with ppl?! Talk about judgmental. And even if you thought that, at least be tactful enough to keep it to yourself! You only have to scan a few of the threads on this forum to know that the subject of ML and mothers working tends to bring out some pretty strong feelings. My belief has always been it's a personal - about you, your partner (if you have one) and your kids - no-one else has the right to judge what's best. Sweeping generalisations about how things should be are totally unhelpful at best!
Most ppl seemed to have assumed I'd take 9 months to a year as that's what you're allowed to but luckily no-one's made any comments about my only taking 6. I suppose working in a uni that's seen as 'normal'? I am waiting for MIL to chip in, who is highly opinionated and totally lacking in discretion or tact - what a combo  She doesn't work so no doubt will be weighing in with her traditional view of the division of labour in a marriage... as well as her views on gender, don't get me started!!!MFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!
