washing bedding - how often?

I was sensible and found myself a 6ft 4 OH to do duvet covers lol.
We have a superking bed.. I do the sheets (top, bottom and 6 pillow covers) every week.. DD3 has had her bed changed 4 times in the last 3 days  I am doing everyone elses tomorrow.
I do the childrens less as they do not sweat as much as us adults do.. and our bed sees a fair bit of action so has legs after a week! DD1 and DD2 have responsibility for changing their own bedding.. at 13 and 15 that isn't a great deal to ask. I tell the boys to strip theirs and they put on their own sheets (14 and 11) I have OH do the little 2's beds.. they have bunks and I struggle and it takes him seconds.
I hate changing bedding!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Once a week for me too. I love the feeling of clean sheets and plumped up pillows. I have a king size bed, my trick is to feed in the top two corners of the duvet and secure with an elastic band (our postie leaves the red ones everywhere!). After the corners are in place and secure I stand on the bed and the duvet cover just falls into place.... simples!0

Every Monday for ours - king size. Best to do it weekly to keep the dust mites down.
All three childrens on a Wednesday. The boys take theirs off and bring them down when they get up, and I make them put them back on again. The eldest has one of those high sleeper beds with a futon underneath and the condition of getting it was that he has to put the bed linen on and take it off, as I'm not climbing up there! Here I go again on my own....0 -

Every week for me too! I love the smell of fresh bedding and slipping under the lovely clean duvet with fresh plumped up pillows and nice clean shaven legs
I think bed time is the best. I have a memory foam mattress and kingsize bed. I don't like making the bed though, I am 5' 4 and it's a pain. I have had them on the washing line today, spring is in the air. Sheets are so much nicer when dried on the line
Edit: I had to add that I don't have any children so if I ever do I am sure that it will all change and I won't ever change my own bed sheets! I also don't iron any of them, just dry them so they don't crease too much.0 -
OMG
I'm only like changing mine about every 3 months...
My theory is that I have a shower every morning.
My bedclothes don't smell, and I just sniffed them, they've been on for about a month just now.The flip side of sanity is the game.0 -
I change the bottom sheet and pillowcases once week and put them on a 60 degree hot wash. I then hoover the bed
to get rid of any dust and freshen up the pillows by a quick blast in the tumble dryer.
But I just turn the duvet over - it'll last another week.
On getting up in the morning, I turn the duvet right down to let the mattress breathe and air, and I open the windows wide for as long as it takes me to shower. I was taught that you should never make your bed straightaway without airing it.0 -

Every other week for my bed, every week for my DD who is asthmatic and every day for my DS who has very bad reflux. I have more than enough washing with him throwing up on me, him, the floor, the sofa, the rug, his sister and his dad every day to worry about changing my bed every week too !!!
Once he grows out of it, I will probably go back to doing mine every week again, but at the minute its just too much !!
Oh and I'm 5'2 with a kingsize bed and I have to stand on the bed to even get halfway near getting the duvet cover on !!! My6'1 OH just stands and laughs at meBut he always ends up finishing it for me anyway !!
The two best things I have done with my life

I'm another who would have a maid just to change the bedlinen if I won the lottery...well two maids actually, as we're another couple with a superkingsize bed.
we've had the bed about 4 years now, and still say to each other about once a week how much we love our bed. In summer especially since you can stretch out no bother and still not feel the radiated heat from your OH.
Great size for 'snuggling' too - no need to shuffle over a bit cos someone is hanging off the side:o
I don't change the sheets every week, or the duvet cover, but I do put a blanket over the bottom of the bed for the cat to lie on instead of getting our duvet cover furry.
today is looking like another sunny day, gtot the rest of the washing done yesterday so ~I might strip the bed once DH is awake and be shamed into giving it a 'wee fill o' the watter':rotfl:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
