I was just taking a very important call from a woman, who has extensively travelled through Scotland, and she was saying that it "never fails to disappoint" and "the people are very difficult "

    That's quite informative. About her.

I'm sorry, but that just says you've never been here, you've never particularly tried or you have no taste. We've eaten in good restaurants all over the world (it's our hobby) and some of the best have been local ones.

Per capita, there are as many Michelin starred restaurants in Scotland as there are in England. Many more, if you exclude London and Edinburgh.

I have been all over , visited many establishments on recommendation , but no luck.

probably you do think your local places are good, but it depends what you are comparing it to, and what you are used to. I would probably visit , and what you would rave about, I would find very average, simply because we are used to better and have higher standards.
