Whilst your point is valid, perhaps it's the way you come across? :)

    :rotfl:

Probably, I tend not to waste too many words when making a point :o

Well this morning, as promised by Thames Valley Housing, we have received our accpetance letter! (Finally, a promise that they kept to!!!)

Basically, it tells you how much they are lending you and confirms the mortgage amount. Works out that TVH are lending us 30% of the property price which is what we expected.

It also says that we must exchange contracts by 15th July and complete around beginning of August.

Checked with the EA today and our apartment will be finished in about 4 weeks so, so far things are looking up!

I must admit, I never thought we would ever be at this point. Not after everything we have been through so far!

I'm sure there wil be a few more hiccups on the way as we still have to send our mortgage certificate and NHBC warranty to TVHA for them to check, so we aren't done with them just yet!! But luckily we were given a direct phone line and fax number on the letter to contact our case officer so hopefully the rest will run slightly more smoothly!

In the mean time... my fingers are still crossed for everyone (haven't uncrossed them for myself just yet either!!)

Its been a bumpy ride so far for us all and I hope it works out for everyone!

I'll keep you all updated on any TVH issues I come across!x

Blimey...was just researching how to go about buying through My Choice Homebuy Scheme...maybe I'll have more luck just using the time they waste to save up for a deposit!

have to say I felt ILW's post was a bit unecessary...I live in Hampshire and am on a pretty low income and wish i could just "get a mortgage".

Good luck to all you guys who are in the middle of the process, hope things get better.

    congratulations!

can i ask what date your pack was submitted? ours was the 5th of may and i was just trying to get an idea roughly where they're up to!

    thanks
  • We are having the exact same problems with metropolitan housing! We got our acceptance letter 9 weeks after finding our property and once we get the mortgage offer and the survey posted to them this week they have told us to expect the process to take another 12 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!! ....and thats before we can settle the contract and then I presume it will be 2 - 4 weeks till we exchange!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS A FARCE!
Do they have any idea how the open property market functions??????
We are the laughing stock at our estate agents office and if the vendor pulls out - which they are seriously threatening to - they 'aint' gonna help us find another property! They wont want to know us!...there arent that many other decent estate agents or 2 bed properties in Pinner were we want to live and now the prices in our area have gone up slightly so chances of finding a property for the same price as the one we are trying to buy now is marginal!!!!!!
We feel completely cheated and I don't think they have any idea what the are subjecting people to!
I sympathise with you all who are experiencing these woes!
I am looking up my MP tonight! I am sure if they still have a seat in parliament then they will be eager to please!!!!!

Gosh - another 12 weeks you say once the survey and mortgage is back? Anyone heard about this delay? Am pleased to hear withoutatrace has also heard positive news. Connells have said that new build appplications using Thames Valley are all progressing and surveys are done on April and May applications so it seems to be the My Choice stuff that is taking ages.
Bit worried about the delay after survey and mortgage mind -and we all thought that the delay was in getting the acceptance letter! Not sure what the Thames Valley position is once the mortgage and survey is back, wonder if it's as long as Metropolitan?
We are still waiting to hear - our buyers submitted their application in May also and had verbal confirmation this week but nothing in writing yet as it needs to go to a manager for approval. Ho hum.
Would be interested to hear from LouB06 and withoutatrace how long it takes to get mortgage approval and survey booked now you have the official confirmation - and if they tell you anything about how long the wait is the other end!!
  • We asked the IFA today about this and he is sure that there will be minimal delays with Thames Valley, and that it will take approximately the same length of time as a 'normal' house sale. I will keep you posted if I hear anything else.
  • Good to hear things are on track for you Sandra and withoutatrace. We will keep our fingers crossed but it may be dangerous to hold our breath! : ) I really do hope to hear form anyone registered with Metropolitan on this forum to find out if they are any further down the track than we are.
