I'm sooooo glad I'm not the only one discussing stardrops on a Saturday nite!! Will let you know how I get on tomorrow, although I might be in a little cleaning haze with my stardrops, hope I can get some.
which Wilko are you going try, as someone may already know if the local branch to you has it in stock, or can suggest a differeent shop.

Do you have a Home Bargains near you as all their shops always have plenty in stock

  • Has anyone tried the new pink floral Stardrops?

I am not sure if it has ammonia or not, it was next to the Star pine (or what ever the green one is called) in our local Wise Owl shop- they carry loads of Stardrops stuff! I was tempted to try it but I quite like the smell of original Stardrops.

    Any opinions?

Its called startips and its a disinfectant. I like it very much, smells a bit like baby powder and even sorts out the bin!

    - whar are microfibre cloths and whats so good about them ?

They're cleaning cloths made of a synthetic fibre, usually polyester + nylon. They work better than cloths made from natural fibres, because they have loads of little 'edges', so they're sort of like a very soft scourer - see here for the science bit: http://www.clean-image.co.uk/articles/microfibre-cleaning-cloths.htm

    - I read seomwhere that Stardrops shifted limescale off a shower door, has anyone tried it on mega mega mega limescale buildup in a toilet ?
Don't recall seeing anything about it. There's a bit of debate about how good it is on limescale; some people have found it good, others not so good and recommend Starclen instead.

    - do you use it n the toilet as from what I gather its not a disinfectant ?

No, it's not a disinfectant. Most of us seem to use something like Zoflora (made by the same company) in the spray bottle with it (stops the microfibre cloths from getting stinky as well, which was a problem a lot of people seemed to have at the beginning, even if they washed the cloths in a DW or stuck them in the microwave to sterilise.

Yes, I've used it too - I mentioned earlier in the thread that I thought it smelt nice at first, but found the smell rather sickly after a while. Still, it's only about 60p a bottle as well, so worth trying it out; if you like it, well & good, if not, use it for disinfecting things like bins where you can't smell it, and try something else. The same company also do Starpine (which has a piney, woody scent) and Zoflora (Bouquet is flowery, Cool & Fresh, my favourite, smells very clean & citrusy, and then there's another one that I haven't tried yet).
  • I thought I would share my recent OS success with you. My mother has one type of cleaner for the bathroom, another for the kitchen worktops, one for the oven, etc... When I last visited her, I took her to the supermarket and pointed out Stardrops (on the bottom shelf which seems to be the norm in Morrison's  ) and told her how great it was. So, she bought a bottle, together with the microfibre cloths of course. I must confess I didn't think she would use it much.

I phoned her yesterday for our weekly chat and she told me that she has been using it to clean her bathroom, to remove stains from carpets, cleaning worktops, etc. She is a true convert now and can't believe how much money she has wasted in the past buying lots of different cleaners. So well done OSers, another convert to the cause! :j

The search followed by bad temper this morning was worth it!! I just been stardropping everything! Did kitchen (tops, taps, cooker, floor and back door) all sparkling. Did bathroom lovely and fresh now. Would like to use on carpet to remove a couple of spillages but do I need to dilute not quite sure on this one?? Decanted some in an old squirty bottle and diluted to use as a spray like you would with Cif or similar. I'm well and truly converted.

Try diluted first - you'll probably find that will remove the majority of it. If there's anything really stubborn, try undiluted, but only a small amount and rinse well.
