I'm new to all this, but just been seeing lots of references to Stardrops. Now I've finally worked out what it is, can anyone tell me if you can buy Stardrops in the South? Can't say I've ever seen it in my area, but perhaps that's because I've never been looking for it. I'm near Basingstoke in Hampshire

Wilkinson's in Bournemouth (Boscombe) definitely have it - bottom shelf, unsurprisingly, along with the borax and bicarb. Think Morrison's in Totton have it too.

I had a major cleaning fit last night before my dog trainer arrived (was only about an hour so figured I didn't really have time for much so might as well clean the washing up, then the kitchen tops, then the cupboard doors, then the dishwasher and washing machine then muddy paw prints of the doors and door frames, somehow I ended up in the downstairs bathroom with my stardrops and micro fibre cloth...

So did I! It looked great! Weird - I can't smell Stardrops at all; I can get a very faint citrusy smell if I sniff the concentrate, but once it's dilute in the spray bottle I can't smell a thing.

Where is the best place to buy micro fibre cloths from??? May aswell start as I mean to go on :D

I buy mine from Poundland - 4 for £1, all different colours and different lengths of microfibre, but all seem to work equally well. Found the Tesco ones went all stinky even when put through dishwasher cycle.

Oh poo I bought a pack of the Tesco ones yesterday :o. Used one this evening.

Whats the difference between the cheap (89p) and the expensive (£3.99) cloths?

Also can you get micro fibre mops??? I imagine they would be very good for cleaning laminate floors.
  • Stardrops saved the day again. The OH has a shirt which got stained with white under the arms (you know how!) anyway nothing has shifted it yet and he said he was going to go any buy another shirt as he really wanted to wear the suit it goes with to a wedding tomorrow. Anyway i washed it last night with stardrops as a last resort and guess what it worked! Stain free shirt! woooooooooohoooooo! Tahnk you Stardrops.

    From their website:

"Stardrops was one of the first soapless detergents launched in the UK during the war years and it remains one of the company’s best-known brands in the northern regions surrounding our site."

Is this why I can't find any, living in London?

Anyone from southern climes found it?

    Tesco - Nope
    Sainsbury's - Nope
    R Dyas - Nope
Morrison's - nearest one closed down over a month ago  shows how often I get out.....

Can't think of a Savers offhand, but there is a Wilkinson's, which I will be passing this evening (if they're still open).

    Will try there

Yep, the microfibre clothes will be fine. Just don't wash them with fabric softener, if you use that, that is. The fibres don't like it.
