Not sure there is much difference apart from the ammonia. I use it for really tough cleaning, especially greasy heavy grime. Having said that I've not long been able to get it!!
Someone on the other thread had accidently spilled half a bottle neat on a sealed floor (slate, I think ) and it took it off!!!
Lifts cooker grease like magic!! HTHYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Thanks Churchmouse Would i be right in thinking that it would
be ideal for getting rid of limescale in loo's? I have a 2nd job doing a bit of cleaning after work, to obviously get more money. One of the areas that i have to clean is the prisoners toilets which are made of stainless steel.
Do you think that Starclen would be ok for that or too powerful?
Thanks for your superior knowledge. :beer:20p savers club

No, I really don't have superior knowledge!!
I don't think it would be too strong for stainless steel, in fact I'm sure it wouldn't be. But I don't know that it would shift limescaleCould be worth a try?
Toilets and limescale areas are where I still use commercial products, you know Harpic and the like. Mind you I've read plenty of times how good cheap cola is for getting rid of limescale in toilets!! Obviously no good for you at work, but I really must try it at home sometime. Apparently you just pour loads down the loo and leave overnight. If it cleans that off what on earth does it do to teeth and insides!!:eek:You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Cheapo but good.
I think outside the box - I can also think round corners.0 -
Having read about the famous Stardrops, I was Sainsburys this morning and came across it. They had them in 600ml bottles for 75p, so I bought two of them. Maybe I could have bought them cheaper elsewhere but I might not have remembered.
Now I just need to find the microfibre cloths and I'll be well away !

After reading all these posts, I got some last week (yes, 58p in Wilko's). I was almost finished with a bottle of Astonish kitchen cleaner (which I had actually been quite impressed with previously), so I decided to give them both a really tough test - I'd been putting off changing the filter in the cooker hood for ages, so I bit the bullet, took down the hood cover, dumped the old (urrghh!) filter, and sprayed half the horrid sticky greasy cover with Astonish, which finished off the bottle. I then washed out the bottle, made up a solution of Stardrops in the bottle, and sprayed the other half.
Despite the Astonish having longer to work, Stardrops won hands down. I am converted - I too have seen the light!0 -
I got my first bottle today and haven't even read the thread!
I trust you lot so much, if its good enough for you...............its good enough for me!

I bought a bottle last week - I too havent read the whole thread, I'm now tripping the light fantastic with stardrops :rotfl: I used it to clean my oven - wow, what a result. I also used it to take out (successfully) a stain in my hall carpet - I have tried everything to get it out.
I used it to clean my bathroom too - I notice that some people are diluting it down - whats the best way and is the dilluted mix enough for bathrooms etc.0 -
i have just been painting a security fence with anti burglar paint and this is Normally a nightmare to get off my hands,(normally a brillo pad and washing up liquid)well this morning picked up stardrops instead of washing up liquid and the paint came straight off with out scrubbing.

I just put a couple of squirts into my spray bottle, add a couple of drops of tea tree oil, and then fill it up with water. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0
