Hi all
I am still a bit confused between Stardrops and Starclens, and what I can or can't use each one for. At the moment I am using Stardrops for most things as I am a bit wary of the ammonia in Starclens.
I am so grateful for this thread - I used to buy a different cleaning product for every surface in the house, and was an advertisers dream when new things came on the market. No any more though!0 -
Hi, i want to try stardrops but where in the supermarkets would they be?0

Ive done it, ive finally cleaned my carpets wiht it and they have come up better than ever.
I bought a vax cleaner some time ago (which im hiring out, made my money already!) and have cleaned my carpets for a second time, this time using Starrdrops and blimey can i see a difference.
Ok i used a lot (maybe a bit too much from the bubbles produced) but they look fantastic, even the OH commented on them. I followed the advice of putting some softner in the collecter (a good way to use it up since i started using vinegar)
half a bottle of stardrops (30p) vs a bottle of vax own (£5) which didnt quite cut it. I think i know which one i choose!0 -

aimee,
I have a vax cleaner and now some stardops too. What do you mean about the softner and vinegar thing? I don't understandIt is unwise to pay too much but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, all you lose is a little money... that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot...it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better (John Ruskin - 19 ctry author, art critic & social reformer)0 -

Some people use white vinegar in their laundry instead of fabric softener. It works because it counteracts the deposits in hard water (vinegar is acid, hard water is alkaline) and it's cheaper than fabric softener - which gunks your machine up in its own right anyway. You can scent it with a couple of drops of essential oil if you still want laundry to smell pretty. Personally I don't bother with vinegar as I live in a soft water area and find it makes no difference. I just don't use fabric softener any more.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -

I understand now where the vinegar thing comes from but aimeelister was talking about using the fabric softener in a vax floor cleaner, not a washing machine. Wasn't she??? or have I got that wrong? It is unwise to pay too much but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, all you lose is a little money... that is all.
