MrsMoneyPenny - have you had any joy from the makers of Stardrops? I asked if they sell it in Spain (maybe under a diff name) and never had an answer0

One of these shops opened nearby recently and I went into today and they had a whole rack of Stardrops: cream cleaner, bathroom cleaner, multi purpose, window spray, kitchen cleaner and the ammonia one. All but the ammonia and cream cleaner were in 750ml spray bottles and obviously all at 99p each.
On the back it states: Manufactured by Star Brands Ltd in the West Midlands.0 -

Thornton Ross who used to own the brand have seemingly sold it to another company.
The new company is obviously trying to make a return on its investment by producing additional products.
I think that this could be a mistake. I like Stardrops for 3 reasons - 1. it works 2. it's excellent value for money 3. you don't need anything but Stardrops
These new products aren't value for money and you start gathering more bottles under the sink again.
I can understand why the new owner will want to make more products - we like stardrops because it lasts for ages but this won't help make them a fortune!0 -
The original basic stardrops is still available though isnt it? as thats the only thing I'm going to be buying I'll be really disappointed if they replace it with this new stuff they are makingThanx

I was worried last month when in my local Tesco they only had the new spray bottle version. Fortunately they are now stocking the original Stardrops with a new bottle design & lable.0

I have to disagree, as long as this new company doesn't screw up such a long running brand, it was a brand that was being forgotten and maybe it needed a spurce up itself?
Anyhoo, I am sitting here now with a bottle of Stardrops Glass Cleaner and it great stuff.
I bought a new mirror and by the time I had hung it up there were fingerprints all over it. Quick squirt of the Stardrops Glass Cleaner, rub it in, wipe it off (with paper towels, does the best job) and it was absolutely spotless, not one streak.
That isn't all. I use it on gloss or varnished doors to remove fingerprints and spills, etc and I also used it when I moved in on a wall (not emulsion, satin or some other wipe clean paint) and it took the marks off easily. Great on tables too or the TV or computer, makes my laptop look brand new (squirt onto paper towel and not directly onto the laptop!).
So like its big brother Stardrops, the glass cleaner is multi-purpose as well.
So as I say I approve of the new products so far.0 -
I'm of to buy some sounds great! Not that I like cleaning at all. Anyone seen it around lately I'm down south0

I'm in Dorset and usually get my Stardrops in Wilkinsons or Sainsburys - around 79p."A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it." :wall:

Never heard of Stardrops (sound like sweets!) but have a brand spanking new Bathroom and am wondering what the best cleaner is for my chrome taps and removing limescale - I live in a hard water area but want to keep it looking new!
Will good old Stardrops do the trick?0 -
For limescale removal you need to use something acidic like vinegar, some people soak a sponge or paper towel in vinegar, tie it to the area needing cleaning and leave it overnight.
Stardrops is great for general cleaning though, and to the poster above it IS anti-bacterial, as all soaps and detergents are.0
