Don't get me wrong, I love stardrops and i use it cos its great at cleaning, I just would be wary of putting it in my dishwasher, as i would with many cleaning products.0 -
Scuba... I put about a tablespoon of soda crystals in the detergent thingy along with half a cheapo dishwasher tab. The tabs are easy to break in half in their packet before opening them. I use the aldi tabs and they are £2.99 for 40 which gives 80 washes. I havnt found a better dishwasher tab than this. Tesco sell soda crystals about 60-70p a bag i think. I put white vinegar in the rinse agent thingy and my stuff comes out sparkly everytime. I like meanmarie cant get hold of stardrops so i cannot comment on that.

I use half a Lidl 5 in 1 tablet and it works fine. Not only do I save money, its better for the environment too. The Lidl tablets do not have any "power balls"inthem, just stripes, so they are easily halved.earn what you can, save what you can, give what you can :hello:0

Have just bought my first bottle of Stardrops after finding it in Sainsburys. On the label it says you can use if for washing up.0

I haven't used stardrops in the dishwasher, I'm actually a bit concerned about using it to clean with since it seems to catch my breath even when diluted with water. I dilute it and put it in a spray bottle, but I have to hold my breath! I was under the impression this was safer stuff? maybe not.
I'm going back to ecover cleaner. I do use bicarb, soda crystals, vinegar and lemon as cleaning agents too. However in the dishwasher I have used soapnuts with vinegar and a slice of lemon, they seemed to work ok, a few things weren't perfect, but I get that with normal dishwasher tablets too sometimes so I was quite happy with them. I don't use them all the time as I'd rather use them in the washing machine.
Are the cheaper dishwashing tablets that good? Iv'e seen some in a local freezer shop .. not sure of make/brand, will they be okay?

Are you using the concentrated one?
You can get at least 3 types of Stardrops, the dark yellow normal one, dark yellow concentrated and a cloudy coloured one that looks like barley water
which contains bleach.
I found that the concentrated one was quite powerful but the other is fine and is nowhere near as strong smelling.0 -

Thanks for this tip about using the soda crystals and half a tab. I did this tonight and the dishes came out great, plus the machine seemed extra clean. I always use vinegar in the rinse aid compartment too.
I also add a bit of the cheapest washing up liquid in the prewash bit and that helps as it is so unfrothy.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I've just used stardrops to clean out a second hand hutch for the guinea pigs we're collecting tomorrow EEk hope they're okay!
For my penny's worth I use Lidl Dishwasher powder, about a tablespoonful to each wash and nothing else and everything's super clean (but we are a soft water area) and a big tub/bottle thing lasts about six months.Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0
