And TBH I think a lot of people hark back to those simpler times! But of course they look back through the rose tinted glasses of "Darling Buds of MAy" and "Larkrise to Candleford" but along with thise times came Disease, Poverty and hardship the like we do not have today.
Edit - OMG I'M ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE!!!! - How sad am I?Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0 -
They didnt do bad in the Elections, mind you neither did the British Nat. Party. Time for Gordon to go Me thinks:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

This government saved 50% of my and my wife's savings from melting away with the Icelandic banking system. There was no obligation for them to do so.
I have never voted Labour before, I am doing it purely out of gratitude. Anyone else feel the same?
here is a thought buzzing round my mind...
if, the BNP or similar were in power at the time, they could of transferred all foreign deposits into uk accounts as part of their 'keep it British' ethos. thereby all funds would of been within uk juristriction and they would guarantee all uk savers, regardless of per person per institution rules.
does that mean you would of been eternally grateful to them for this?Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -
I know I would have if they offered such a service, however I am not sure they do. But the same arguments could appear for both Tory n Labour, just as much as any other Independent party, they're all as bad as each other in stark reality.
But this being a Democratic Country, each individual is entitled to vote for whomever they wish, whether or not others oppose it.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Unfortunately transferring all funds to the UK would have got the other countries banks transferring all British assets to themselves so we would likely be far worse off.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

People can vote for who ever they choose, but with so many not voting the independants then get a look in, whether you supported them or not I am hoping the "fallout" from the European Elections will persuade the apathetic sector of the electorate to actually go and vote next time!Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0

I think it will take more than false promises to get the apathetic sector to go out and vote, policies are needed for that and not just promises
There is too much spin, too much "he did it not me", too much sleaze and far too much greed to make people feel anyone is worthy of a vote. :A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I would like to see a version of the Aussie system and make it illegal not to vote, with a "none of the above" box of course. If you don't vote you have no right to complain about the government which gets in.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

NO, I don't feel the same as you. What a pathetic reason for voting for this immoral, irrelevant, broken government. If you really think Gordon Brown did out of some selfless act then you must be as stupid as he is! POLITITIANS ONLY DO THINGS FOR THEMSELVES. He portrayed himself as 'the man of prudence' for years, now it's all gone tits up on his watch we can see him for what he is; an incompetent, lying bast*rd who's got as much right to run this country as my cat! The moron needs locking up along with Blair and every other labour loser who's kicked this country in to third world status.0
