OP, which elections are you referring to? I take it you understand the difference between the different type of elections, and that not all of them relate to govt per se?
    Gone ... or have I?

Yes I understand we will not be electing a government next week, in fact I said at the time of bailout of Icesave that I would vote Labour next time round, so I suppose I should really wait for a general election.
However I was interested to see if people felt any gratitude for Labour's rescue, or whether that is water under the bridge now.

    Gratitude ?

Ask your grandchildren. They're the ones paying for your bailout.

This government saved 50% of my and my wife's savings from melting away with the Icelandic banking system. There was no obligation for them to do so.
I have never voted Labour before, I am doing it purely out of gratitude. Anyone else feel the same?

Yes they pulled you out of the burning wreckage, that was nice of them.

Of course, you're overlooking their part in causing the crash that trapped you in burning wreckage in the first place, but then the politicians are counting on your poor attention span to keep them in a job, so mission accomplished to them!

    Strange.

People don't understand that they are voting in European elections. And also may be voting in local elections.

Neither of these elections has anything to do with who runs the UK.

In my area I have 3 Labour MEPs, 3 Conservative MEPs, 1 UKIP, 1 Lib Dem and 1 Green. If I have a problem that involves the EU I can write to anyone of them.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

  • As others have said, you must remember who got us into this mess in the first place. Brown.

    Don't reward him for failure.

Which brings us back to my point. How much credit does someone deserve for rescuing you from something their incompetence caused, or at least contributed to. Wouldn't it better had they worked to prevent the incident it in the first place?

I am happy to blame Brown for the state of the British economy, But the collapse of the Icelandic banks?
