auldblerk even when you go to the post office you still need your pin number to get any money so im afraid you will have to wait for the pin.

I'm afraid you will have to wait for your pin, unless it's a replacement for an old one in which case you can use the old one!

  • If you don't need your card for a few days ring them up and tell them you have lost your card, they will issue you the new card

In the meantime anyone who hasn't got one should get a prepaid mastercard from cash plus. Absoultely brilliant accepted as a 'mastercard'. Easy to apply for and once you've got the card you can apply for the option of paying about £5 to build up a credit history.

Downside: 1- Topping up can be a pain/ getting to a post office etc
2- The card is gold therefore attracts abit of extra attention!

But they don't work everywhere either. I have a huge problem with Ocado with a prepaid, it wouldn't recognise it as a Mastercard, but still kept taking the £1 'test' off the card. I tried it a few times, so did my OH, the card was blocked in the end, and it took weeks to get the £1's back on the card because Ocado hadn't completed the transaction they could complete the refund.

So they're great for normal transactions, but again, in places you can't use the Electron where pre-pproval is needed they're no better.
