I have found a bit of a work around for shopping at Tesco online.

I now use my Tesco Clubcard Plus instead of a normal debit card, and now that both the Co-op and Tesco finance send/accept faster payments its even easier.

I just do my shopping on the website, Then when i get to the end, open a new browser window, log into coop online banking, transfer the amount to my tesco clubcard plus account and then carry on with the checkout at Tesco's.... Even better I get double points on me shopping :D

    The other James

    IVA Payments Coutdown -
IVA completed!! Now the cleanup begins!:D
Rebuild Credit Time: Vanquis CC with £1000 Limit (£0 Balance)
Sim Only Contract with T Mobile
All adding little green ticks to my credit file :D

I opened a new Co-op account last week that I am not using until afterwards ;)

The new card has raised numbers, says Visa Debit & does not have `for electronic use only` ....does this mean I can use it without fear of it being rejected?

Sorry if this has been asked before.

Personally I think the Co-op are brilliant....no quibble or fuss, UK call centres , staff who are polite & helpful & online banking that is simplicity itself !!
Just how banking should be !

I have had all sorts of issues with Barclays & First Direct over the years esp on basic banking issues & I find the Coop Banking effortless & a pleasure in comparison.

    Just my opinion, Angexx

Hmm thats not the feeling I get

Sure i'm greatful of the co-op always have been....imagine my excitement receiving a visa debit card only to find its not quite what it's supposed to be (despite the leaflets enclosed with the card) I wish I could just nip to tesco & draw the cash out & shop...unfortunatley I cant...and have to rely on online purchases as much as I can...not a nice feeling to ask your OH for her card so you can do the weekly shop..

This thread didnt turn out an attack on the co-op at all....

IF your debit card starts with the number 4508 then unfortunatley the places that refused your old electron card will still refuse this card as its still classed as an electron despite the name change

I was just giving my opinion and did not realise it would invoke such response Phil.

Like you said its a place to share all opinions.....just putting a point across if thats so wrong then i'll leave it

I dont consider myself an "anti-co op" customer for one minute they were one of the only places that offered me an account just before bankruptcy....besides its not just tesco thats the problem...its other places as well  ...try being stuck at home for most of the day unable to shop unless online....you'd be suprised how many places besides tesco turn the card down

Besides...what response? if you took offence then i'm sorry but thats how I felt...

Co-op is a good bank, a pleasure to deal with
    BUT
I think there is a problem for many - not being able to shop in person. I also am practically housebound and am unable to shop in person, so I lose my independence and have to ask someone else to shop for me - not nice at all. Tesco and M&S are the worst offenders ........... They are the ones that should be pressured to change their policy.

I have to be honest i could never go against co-op although i do wish they handled this Visa card thing a bit better. Firms like Tesco's get my goat when they say we are working on it like they did 6 - 10 months ago to my memory. The only thing Tesco's work on is there billions of profit. Like i say in an earlier post if they wanted to they with there power could sort that in a day.
