Peachy re the under 18's buying alcohol, as has been said above (somewhere!) they take solo and both my kids had a solo card from the age of 16 so it must be another excuse.
My son had a HSBC issued Solo card long before he was even 16, I think he got it when he was 14.
The alcohol excuse made by Tesco for not taking Electron is a load of nonsense, and has no merit whatsoever.====0 -
Crazy though it is, that's what they told me, I've used my son's solo for stuff I couldn't buy on John Lewis and M&S with my electron, including alcoholic gifts.
But that is definitely what they said.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Its even more crazy now, just had a look at the HSBC site and they now issue Visa Debit to customers from the age of 13!
Now that makes the whole argument even more stupid, someone should ask Tesco why they are accepting Visa Debit for on-line use if they are so worried about under-age alcohol purchases.====0 -
Sorry, ON-topic,
I went to the Co-op right after court as both are twenty miles away. Gave documents which were copied. Tax credit award and council tax bill.
Today I had a letter saying I need to post them and have them verified or to go into the branch because there is no evidence on the systems of them! I really need this up and running very soon. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
From a cost effictiveness point of view there is a website which compares them:D0 -

I don't think I'll bother to 'lose' my electron card as to date I haven't found anywhere I go that it won't work. I can always use my son's solo card if I need to shop online at Tesco.

Hi folks,
I went to the Head Office today, had to pay some money in and had a word with the cashier about the problems experienced by others and to be totally honest he really didn't care or take any notice with what i was saying... maybe it was my Scottish accent lol.....
I was going to speak to someone else but the queue was horrendus, so much so that this head office branch has 7 windows yet there were only 2 members of staff serving customers...
Sorry guys... it was just impossible to actually get anyone to speak with about the problems as there were limited staff on duty and all were busy with other customers.0 -
I'm not sure I understand the problem with the visa electron, if a certain retailer won't accept it there are plenty of others that will, are there major issues I'm unaware of?0

true...BUT people are being misled by the co-op because the accompanying paperwork that comes with the new cards states "visa debit" widely accepted in all places....this is not quite true
Besides being unable to use the card for home shopping etc caused me and many others major issues...its not as easy as "oh well if they wont take my card i'll try someone else"We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
Yeah thats what i am like now i am a bit miffed that Co-op has made out this card is something it clearly is not so like you phil if they dont take my card they obviously dont want or need my money.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

Thank you for your email.
I was sorry to hear that you are still unable to use your Visa Electron card on the Tesco website and that you feel that my colleagues explanations of why we don't accept it as a method of payment do not hold water.
When Tesco.Dot Com was conceived the Visa Electron payment card was not designed to be used without the holder being present, therefore as Tesco.Dot Com is an electronic checkout it was precluded from use. In recent years however Visa have changed the terms and conditions of Visa Electron cards and they can now be used online.
Tesco as a business realise that there are many potential Visa Electron Cardholders out there who are excluded from using our website in these tough economic times and we are currently in the process of looking at how to adapt our website to accept Visa Electron.
Sadly this process will take time and all that we can do at this time is to apologise for any inconvenience or upset that this matter may be causing you. Please let me reassure you that we are working hard to try and resolve this matter as quickly as possible to both the benefit of the company and the potential customer.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us at customer.service@tesco.co.uk quoting TES6620587X.
Kind Regards
