New Nappy Cake

The only thing that I was shocked at was how expensive the socks were, they worked out at 50p/55p per pair. These push the price of Sock Cupcakes up considerably to what I was expecting. I'm off to Primark today to see if they are any cheaper in there.
Can i just ask if you will be selling on your cupcakes or giving them to friends and family. As i have been making nappy cakes now for over 5 years and i have found many people that buy my stuff would not be happy with Primark clothes and socks. I must say i love Primark myself but its just not something i can use on my baby gifts its just a thought thats all hope you dont mind me saying but i know im not the only one that wont use there stuff i know some do
The cupcakes I was aiming to sell for under £5, which isn't feasible when the socks cost 50p/55p each. I understand what you are saying about using Primark clothes as I found they do fade / come apart quickly (I still buy them for DS cause 9/10 he only wears them a couple of times as he outgrows them or stains them) but just for plain white socks - I don't think that they are bad quality.
Thanks for your feedback though - I'm trying to cater for them being on display on a local market - I personally don't think that they will sell for much more on there, perhaps if I was to set up a website or went to a craft fair - I'd be aiming at a different demographic who would pay more and I would use higher quality products.
I hope that doesn't come off sounding wrong, I certainly don't want to insult anyone on here as you have all been so helpful.0 -

You may not use primark items, and ok maybe a few others don't but not every customer is fussy. I have been doing it over a year now which fair enough isn't nowhere near your 5 years but I have used a full range of items from all over the place and never had one bad comment about any of my stuff, all have been properly and gratefully recieved and many have come back for more! I think if you want to use cheaper items like Primark then there is nothing wrong with that, just make sure your prices reflect that and don't rip people off!! ... I am all for making something on your cakes but totally against prices being so expensive when they have such cheap ingredients!
Also I know it has been mentioned by someone else? think it may have been Bella, I believe she doesn't use Asda clothes etc for the same reason ...
There is nothing wrong with Primark clothes, nor supermarket clothes, given the choice I would use primark over asda on my own kids purely because they wash better, and last a lot longer!! not sure how that works!! ... I also dress my own kids in Next, supermarket, M&S and also primark.
My prices always reflect the costs of the cakes and I make approx £5 on each cake!!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

I never said you did say there was anything wrong with primark clothes! I simply said that there are people out there who don't mind them!! If people are bothered then they should ask before hand like my customers do!!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

Ok have finished first nappy cake, (just a rough guide - I'll be taking it apart and ironing the Muslin and repositioning and fixing the flowers) I would appriciate anyones feedback - I struggled to make the Muslin look neat on the 2nd tier, I saw that there was a guideline of how to wrap the nappies but I can't find it now.
My attempt at sock cupcakes - I'm just looking for packaging for them now.0 -
