Would love to have any tips on how to get a neater finish with the blankets and towels next time.

    Hi There
I always fold any blankets or muslin squares so they are just slightly taller than the height of the nappys, use a nappy to measure the size and keep the folds straight, pull the blanket tight around the finished tier and secure using curling ribbon cut the curling ribbon and remove it once you have your decorative ribbon and any other items in place, hope that helps

Thanks for the advice, I didnt measure mine against the height of the nappy or use any curling ribbon to hold in place. I will try this on the next one. Your cake is beautiful, I am going to do a girl one next. I need to practice rolling the socks to look like roses or cakes as mine still look like socks.
Looking forward to new ventures

Are the feeding cloths from matalan large enough to go around a middle layer of a 3 tier cake??

If it is the three pack of burp cloths I use them for the top layer of a three tier cake. They go round approximately 8/10 nappies.

It's the feeding cloths from matalan, they come in a pack of two or three. I think you put them over your shoulder to protect yourself from baby sick etc when feeding. I think there different to Muslins or burp cloths but could be wrong?

  • Wow, this thread seems to be booming just lately.

Zangels, regarding the feeding cloths (burp cloths are the same thing) from Matalan, I have used them on a middle tier before, but have used 2 which seemed to fit nicely if I remember right. Also, You asked about cellular blankets - I haven't used them yet, but I have got some in stock so will be using them at some point.

Janey - gorgeous cake as always :)

Thanks sweetpea, I was hoping one wpuld fit a middle tier and then a muslin on the top tier. I will see what size they say on the website. Thanks for all the help.
Looking forward to new ventures
