    Hi all

I have been at another fayre today with my nappy cakes and yet it again it was rubbish. Honestly people seem to set these things up and then mustn't advertise as there must have been about 10 people through the door if we were luck today.

I am going to try and attach some pics of my cakes. I suppose I am looking for a confidence boost. I have had my website set up for 4 months now, and not had one sale. I think my website is good, and it is up there on Google now thanks to google adwords. Also have a facebook page and have taken out a facebook advert (limited as skint!) . How do you spread the word and get people interested? Any advice?

Your cakes are lovey it just takes time. Do you have lots of smaller gifts as well as they can look good on the table and if people dont have much money they would be good you will get there but like i said it just takes time. Facebook is one of the best ways to sell. Do you have a limk to your page :)

  • Thanks giggle yes, I do sock cupcakes and feeding pot sundaes. I am glad I do as they do sell as people dont mind spending £4/£5 on little things. I'll post a pic of those too.

DO you mean a link to my website or to my facebook page? Dont want to go breaking any rules....
    Thanks again

Hi, I hope its ok to ask, I was wondering where those of you who are making nappy cakes get reasonably prices blankets or towels from? I can source most of the other things I need but have yet to come accross blankets for less than £6. Or am I being a cheapskate looking for them at a lower price than this? Thanks for this thread I did not know it was here as there's so many on the forum.
I just use the fleece blankets from B&M @ £2.49 each (pink, blue, cream). They have some lovely white shawl blankets I think around the £3 mark. I have also used the nice thick snuggly blankets from Primark, they look lovely and chunky on the cakes, I think around £3.50.
I've never had a complaint about the blankets I use and have the same people coming back for more.

Just a tip for the newbies, if wanting to keep the costs down.
Pampers size 3 midi's (orange pack), are pure white with only a coloured waist band (which can be hidden when folded).

I just cover the bottom tier with a blanket and sometimes the middle tier with a vest.

Saves spending extra money on muslins etc, covering coloured nappies :D

Do you all think the market is now saturated with Nappy Cake makers?

When I started there were very few people making in my area. It now seems that loads of people are making them.

Gone are the days when people would say they had never seen or heard of nappy cakes :(

Notgotenough, I think your cakes look lovely. very neat and they look like they would be good quality. I have only made one myself for a friend so am no expert but if I received one as a gift i would be over the moon.
I would like to do a facebook page but wondered are ther any rules or ways of doing it. I just want to be able to make things and see if there is any local interest but not have to set up as a buisness without knowing I may get some orders.
Everyone on here is so helpfull and it is so nice of people to share their tips and experiebce.
Looking forward to new ventures

Thanks tab, I will have to nip to tesco tomorrow, that sound a really good price. I paid £3.50 for 3 in Asda.
Moonpenny, how do you fold the sleep suit to fit the nappies. Your cakes look so neat I thought they were blankets or cloths opf some kind.

Fold in half and half again and wrap sleeves around Tier. Hold with ribbon on top.
