    Thanks moonpenny,
Mum suggested the terry nappies because she used them on us and she knew of loads of babies having rashes and being irritated by the disposable ones.
I will have to find out what she would prefer though!

Her friends mum actually makes nappy cakes for a living but uses extremely cheap things to put in and so I obviously don't want to do that for my sister! I'm happy to spend a bit of money in order to save her money basically!!

You could use the "organic" disposables. Boots do thir own range as do a lotof other brands.

Why don't you make a cake without Nappies. For 3 Tiers you could use Cot Blanket on bottom and Pram Blanket and Towel on other 2 Tiers. Then just fill the middle with whatever you want.

Hi 1994Evo, Size 3 will be fine. I use size 2 but am going over to size 3. I think most of the girls on here use 3's.
  • Hi ladies, lovely cake Wam,I know what you mean about cakes looking straight and then wonky in photos, some of mine are like that! Cute card too Wiggle.

I am very excited because I have been having quite a few orders from friends and family and word of mouth, but I had my first postal order from my Facebook page and I was nervous about posting it out and it getting there in one piece. Anyway, I used a courier and it got there fine and the lady that ordered it was thrilled with it.

    Here it is...

Ok I'm planning on making my sister a nappy cake for her baby, due in July. She finds out the sex late February so not buying a few bits until then so I can get pinks/blues.

What do I need to make a 3 tier nappy cake? Like towels etc?
Do I make the cake on something so that I can transport it or should it be tightly wrapped enough to carry as it is?

    So far, I have bought;
27 size 1 nappies (Huggies with the low front for the clip)
    Dressing gown with booties
    Baby brush & comb
    Bath stuff
    Sudocrem
Baby record book (might not put this in though as it is quite large)
    Socks
    Wash mitt

Will be buying a teddy to go on top when we find out the sex!

Any tips on how to make will be extremely appreciated as I can only seem to find ones without towels/blankets online!

    Thanks, Rachel :o

:jI made my first nappy cake for my friend who has had a baby boy, thanks to the inspiration from here.
It is 3 tiers and has around 60 size 3 nappies in.
    It has a towel
    blanket
    muslin cloth
    organic baby shampoo
    organic baby bubble bath
    2 vests
    2 pairs socks
    and a soft toy
    All wrapped in ribbon.
It cost around 23 to make.
People who have seen have said I should make them to sell.
I wondered do people on here manage to make a 3 tier one for less as I dont see much of a profit in it?
I love how it looks and really enjoyed making it. Im not sure how to put a picture on, I took a photo on my phone but cant figuire out how to do it.
Looked on line and people seem to only use around 30 nappies for a 3 tier not sure how you would get nice layers though then?
Looking forward to new ventures

I hope no one minds me asking this, I am wondering if anyone knows where I can sell all my towel cake, cupcake etc bits and pieces, i know eBay but I wasn't sure if it would sell on there. I have quite a bit of stuff, plus stands, carrier bags etc-I don't have time to do it anymore and need to free up some cash, I know I won't get what I paid but it all helps. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
