I also use a paper tube in the middle of my cakes. Have made them that way from the beginning as nothing moves when they are built.
I don't use any elastic bands at all - just tie round each Tier with curling ribbon when I have got them all straight.
Janey21, Primark have changed their blanket design. They now have a gorgeous cream one,:T a pink and white spot one (think it looks grubby):( and a blue dog one that looks like it should be in a dog basket.:rotfl:
Appoligies to anyone who has bought them, it's just me!:p
Managed to get the last of the yellow ones. (Said I wouldn't buy any more yellow as they are not a good seller but needed them to go with some toys I have) Hope I am not going to be left with them.
Lol.... I agree, I loved the old plain ones and the new cream one is really nice but the blue lol.... oh dear enough said :rotfl:
I have run out of the lemon now so will have to move onto the cream, oh well they'll change the design again eventually....0 -

Here is my latest cake order for twins - boy and girl . It was my most challenging cake yet as she only had a budget of £30 but wanted a 3 tier so I had to include 2 of everything. It was by far the most fun to make though. My DFs Mum is taking it to the lady who ordered it this afternoon, I hope she likes it as I am really pleased with it.0

I've just found this thread and am bowled over by the beautiful nappy cakes!
I'd love to have a go, as I never ever know what to buy for pregnant friends/colleagues. Can anyone point me towards some good tutorials?
Original debts: £14,250
Still to pay: £250 /£950 - Lloyds TSB overdraft (although with interest and charges, I've already paid £1,675!)
VSP#150 - £68.250 -
You tube has loads of great tutorials. That's where I went for info when I started out a few months ago.0

That is amazing. Can't believe you managed to do that for 30 pounds! Is there any profit in that for you?

Hi folks, I'm Niki and new to this forum
I've just about finished my first attempt at a nappy cake as a gift for a friend. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed making it and how well it has turned out so I was thinking about making more and selling them etc. I stumbled across this forum whilst searching the internet and thought fab, it's exactly what I was looking for. I'll take a photo of my first cake and try and post it in the next couple of days and you can tell me what you think lol! I was inspired when I received a cake from a friend when my second son was born 6 months ago. I hadnt seen anything like and thought it was a really great gift. Look forward to chatting to all, niki x
