Luabel, Thanks for the offer of sending Dunelm blankets!
I would have taken you up on it but I have got a stash of Blankets and really can't buy any more.

liz_uk, I would list as 1, 2, 3 Tiers etc and then put boy, girl, unisex under each one.

For wrapping the TUBE method -

Overlap the cello about an inch and put a bit of tape at bottom and top just to hold.

Put the tube over cake and loosely put elastic band round top just to hold while you work it.

You need to pull cello about an inch under the board to tape. I stick under the "4 corners" first (back, front, each side) just to even the cello out before taping the rest underneath.

Pull the cake HALFWAY OFF THE EDGE OF THE TABLE  to tape underneath. carry on till you have taped all around it.

I tun my cakes on their side at this point to really stick it down.

Stand cake up and take elastic band off the top.

You can now sort anything out that has moved.

Fasten the top as you normally would.

    Hi guys

Is there any chance someone can post a link or a pic of the dunelm mill blankets as I have had a look in my local store but cant seem to find any???

    Thanks x

I just asked in my local Dunelm if they had any of the fleece blankets for £2.49. She knew exactly what I meant and said they had sold out. I asked if they would be getting anymore and she said they are a special item that they get delivered every now and again.

Hi everyone, lovely to read all the nice posts on here and friendly helpful advice, I have been making handcrafted products since 2004, I run my business from home and have spent many years sourcing wholesale suppliers etc, but also use the high street big names as well.
I have learnt many lessons along the way and continue to learn them as I am sure many of you have, but it is always heart warming to share both experience and know how with fellow cake makers so hope I can join you girls on here from time to time.
    Jane :)

Good morning and welcome. I have only just started making nappy cakes over the last few weeks but am hoping to branch out into other baby crafted products. Realistically, are you able to make a living out of it and bring in a part time wage as this is what I am eventually hoping to do?

Yes I know what you mean about people not knowing about them. People have been asking me how I came up with the idea! Thanks for the advice about the nappy labels. I will start doing that from now on. With reference to the toys, I thought it was OK to include toys that are for when the baby is older as long as you leave the original tags on the toy? I am thinking about setting up a website - would I need trading standards to come out and have a look at the cakes before doing so or is that something that you just decided to do?

    Thanks for your help.

As promised this is a picture of the Dunelm blankets. Priced at 2.49 but came through at 1.24. I have to be honest and say I would only use them for basic cakes though.

Hi everyone, love all your cakes, so inspirational to me. Only on my first nappy cake ever so have a lot to learn.

Was just hoping someone could help me with something as I am a little bit stuck. I have a baby hat from the huggies newborn starter kit and I have no idea what to do with it! I have made sock cupcakes and have looked on you tube for ideas for the hat but Im stumped!

I would be really grateful if anyone wouldnt mind sharing their trade secrets:D

Thank you so much in advance

Love the Pooh cake Irlrip. I can't wait to make mine as I bought a couple of the Pooh boxes and a Thumper one. Can I ask how much you charged for it if you don't mind me asking as I am thinking that I will charge more for a Disney cake than for a standard 3 tier.

Irlrip - gorgeous cake! well done on another sale. :T:T:T

Was that one of the "double" blankets from Matalan or a "single one? I know they are expensive but, they are so gorgeous, I bought some cream ones and a pink one.

Is it just me or is anyone else having trouble with the Pinks?

I go and buy a pink blanket (to match up with stuff I have got to make up a cake) and when I get home it doesn't go. It's either a sort of "candy" pink or "peachy" pink and invariably it's the wrong shade.
