    Hi all.

I came across this thread when rummaging around on Google and have been reading it avidly for a couple of weeks.

I have been making nappy cakes for approx 18 months and was thrilled when I read how you all help each other out by suggesting places to go to find bargains etc.

So, not sure if anyone else has suggested this, but I was in Dunelm Mill yesterday to pick up some baby blankets and was impressed by the price of £2.49 but when I got to the checkout they rang up at £1.24!!!! :T

Naturally I went back and picked up some more. They are really lovely and soft and they had them in plain pink, blue, yellow and cream and they also had some checked pink and blue ones.

The photos of nappy cakes on this thread are awesome - I never realised there were so many talented people around. :)

Thanks for the tip. I will try and go to my local Dunelm tomorrow although not sure if I will be able to get round it with the monster double buggy that I have!

Does anyone love making the cakes but hate wrapping them like me?! I love the finished result, but me and cellophane are not friends. I am so annoyed too as my printer has packed up today so I have some lovely wrapped cakes but can't print out the ingredients tags. I am going to have to see if I can e-mail it to someone to print for me! Also, I am all ready now to print out my posters to hopefully put in shop windows, local nurseries etc but can't do that now either

Welcome Luabel!! You'll find lots of hInts and tips on here x would love to see some of your creations!

My local dunelms have discontinued those blankets now which I'm absolutely gutted about! I was buying them at full price as they were so good for folding!

Sweetpea.. Oh I'm with you on the 'hate wrapping'! Do you use the tube method? I tried but can't get on with it, I know some of the others use it on here!

Me too - hate wrapping! I use tube method but wrapping is my most hated job.

I don't have a Dunelm near me so have been quite jealous of all you ladies getting cheap blankets.

Sweetpea32 - shame about your printer packing up. How big have you made your poster? (was thinking I need to do something like this myself!)

Yes, I do use the tube method. I think it's the easiest way but still don't like doing the wrapping. I think it takes me longer to wrap the cakes than it does to make them!

Yes, I am so annoyed about my printer, just when I actually need it. I have done an A4 size poster with a bit about nappy cakes at the top with my phone number, then 3 pictures down the left hand side of some of my cakes with the ingredients listed by the side of them. When I finally get them printed out I am hoping to display them at the local nurseries, Surestart centre and some shop windows and anywhere else I can think of.

Liz_uk and Moonpenny - if you ever need any of the blankets from Dunelm I would be more than happy to get them and post them off to you - my local one had loads on Monday.

Re the wrapping scenario - I have tried and tried but cannot use the tube method so if anyone has an idiot's guide to doing it I'd be really grateful - I'm obviously doing something wrong :)

I use the tube method to wrap but it always takes two of us to wrap the cakes up. Far too fiddly to try and do it on my own.

Aww Thanks Luabel.. where are you based?? :T

Don`t feel bad, I cant do the tube method either, can do the standard method like the back of my hand now, so think i`m going to stick with what I know...

Had my matalan delivery yesterday.. 20 blue hooded blankets, I ordered them in such a rush i didn`t realise they had monkeys on! lol Oops!

Im just working on my new website, trying to figure out if its better to list cakes as `girls, boys, neutral` or `one tier, two tier etc..`

From looking at the top google sites theres a mixture between the two, but i`m just not sure!!

    What do you guys think??

I've been spending again today:eek:. Needed some stuff for a neutral cake that my friend has ordered and stocked up on another few bits and bobs while I was out. It's a bit of a mission for me to go out with my huge double buggy and two kids as one of them is only 8 weeks old so I thought I'd better get what I could while I was out.

Just got another order for a blue one tier, so things seem to be taking off slowly.

Good news - my OH has fixed the printer so I can do my posters and ingredients tags. There was a crayon wedged in the bottom of it :rotfl:

Liz - I would say that listing them as boy, girl, neutral would be better.
  • Hi guys

Is there any chance someone can post a link or a pic of the dunelm mill blankets as I have had a look in my local store but cant seem to find any???

    Thanks x
