    good luck and enjoy "baking"

but the advice from here does not come free. payment is made by posting your finished product..:rotfl::rotfl:
  • Thanks Chatty! I've made list of "ingrdients" so will get baking over the next week or so and will def post a pic... on another note I may be getting slightly a head of myself but I have another friend who i would like to make one for but doesnt live near me, i see they sell nappy cakes on ebay so obviously they get posted out... just wondered if anyone has any experience of posting them out and how they secure them and the cost etc? Thanks! xxxx

  • morning muffin.

altho i have made and sold many for the last 3 years i have only just recently posted one out.

I boxed it in a box that was just an inch or so wider and taller than the cake to allow less chance of movement. then i packed air pockets around it. sent it by city link 24 hour courier and it arrived in ex condition
    obv costly at £11 tho.
  • Hi there, I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to make a Crib Cake?

I'd really love to have a go at one but I would really know where to start.

    Thanks in advance

Here is one I made with the last of my aqua ellies. Wish Asda would get some more but I like the cream best.

Wow, fab cake Moonpenny, such lovely co-ordinating colours. Oh I sooooo miss those Ellies, wouldn't it be fab if they brought them back again .... I wouldn't mind if they replaced them with something half decent.
A creative mess is better than tidy idleness :D
  • Hi guys
As im relatively new to all of this (was a long term lurker!!) was wondering if I can get some tips?? I have recently started to "bake" nappy cakes. I have made seven orders since mid jan....so not too bad but i was wondering how you all go about drumming up business? Do you have a shop display your cakes or is it just word of mouth. Will def try to upload some pics when i eventually figure it all out..phew it looks complicated....or maybe thats just me lol!! I work part time with two school age children so wouldnt have time to do fairs or maybe I would im not sure, just not sure where to go now with it all and dont want to just fizzle out!!
    Thanks in advance xx

  • Hi all,

Could anyone please kind enough to give me a little bit of advice?

I am just about ready to declare my very small nappy cake business to the HMRC, however, I feel ive took a step back having spoke with Trading Standards. Although very helpful and informative, they've made me question some of things included in my cakes.

What do you do regarding dummies or rattles, for example, in relation to the safety instructions? I have been removing packaging from such items as the cake would just be full of packaging. All the cakes I have seen made by other people have this removed also.

    Thanks in advance :)

  • claire, I keep the packaging - instruction/care leaflets etc and just put in the bottom of the cake or in an envelope inthe bottom - obviously under nappies so you cant see it. Leave tags on clothes/blankets/toys etc and just try to fold them out of site depending where tag is. HTH x
