Have just recieved an online order from Matalan, mainly Blankets (20% off) and every one of them is dirty. 1 or 2 look like they have been dragged round the floor and the others are dirty where they are folded.

I have also had this problem when buying instore so I thought they would be perfect straight from the warehouse.

Don't know whether to have a go washing them. Did this a while ago (So I didn't have to pay to take back) and the binding around the edge went white. It was a cream blanket and was really noticable.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Not had this from Matalan but a while back I ordered 10 white blankets from Adams. Although every one was wrapped in polythene every one was dirty where folded over the hanger. I just washed them and they were fine.

I washed some pink "Furry" ones which were O.K. It was the binding around the edge that I was worried about.

Previously, I washed the cream "giraffe" ones and the binding went white. Was really noticable, washed according to instructions too.

Didn't want to send back as I got 20 % off. Every bag they came in was ripped apart.
  • Can i just ask, do you cut your cellophane yourselves or do any of you use cellophanne bags for your cakes?

Hi...I use cello on a roll, just measure off what I need and make a tube from it and drop it over the nappy cake, then tie off the top and tape the bottom! Its a bit fiddly until you get the hang of it, but you get a nice neat finish...

    Hi Muffin86,

You can include anything you like. Nappies, (obviously) usually a Pram Blanket or Hooded Towel for bottom Tier, though some people just like to have the nappies with ribbon round.

Then you can include toiletries, clothes, muslin squares, Hair brush sets - in fact anything you want. Oh! and a Baby Toy.

You would be better having a look first at some Cakes to see what sort of style you like. Some are very plain with stuff inside, while others have lots going on on the outside.

I agree chatty123, This used to be one of the busiest threads and now it's died! I can only presume that "Bakers" have become very successful and have no time or have given up or gone on to other things.

It's such a shame! Used to love seeing everyones makes.

Lovely cake! chatty but, photobucket won't let me see the bottom picture.
    Do you embroider them yourself?

Here is one I made with the last of my aqua ellies. Wish Asda would get some more but I like the cream best.

  • Thanks for the reply! Im going to make a shopping list of "ingredients" and start getting some bits together, i saw the clothes in tesco today, some lovely disney stuff but i wanna bake a pink cake and they didnt have anything, can I ask how many nappies I will need for 3 tiers? I keep looking at the dif sites etc and they all vary! How much on average would you say one cake cost? I usually make hampers anyway for friends and family and usually spend around 20 - 25 pound, do you think i can do a cake for this or even better less? God im so excited, cant wait to buy the things and have a go! xxx
