Hi, i know this is about MAKING Nappie cakes, but i'm looking to buy one for my Sister in laws first baby due in a few days/weeks (who knows with babies aye!)
I'm not asking you to adertise yur services but was wondering if anyone in my area (Swindon, Wiltshire) Does nappy cakes and how much? Even if you PM'd me that would a real help.
I would look online, but some are big companies, and i thought i'd like to help a local buisness out for a change
Thanks everyone!Mummy to two beautiful kids!Currently doing Access to Higher Education, hoping to go UWE in sept 2013 to do Nursing!0 -
Hi Ladies
I've been reading this forum for AGES, but had forgotten my log in details so not been able to post!!!
I came across it when I was looking for a gift to make for my niece who was born in July - who obviously got a nappy cake! - and have been making them ever since
I've got a tiny bit of a head start though I'm afraid as far as selling them goes, as I own a florists shop - did a full window display of cakes whilst we were closed for our summer holidays & became the talk of the town!...we've actually had people arguing outside as to whether they were real cakes or not (not helped by the fact that we're next door to a bakery!!!!) and someone came in to the shop a couple of weeks ago to see if we did them in chocolate sponge, or were they all fruit?:rotfl:
...when I work out how to put piccies on, I will do...

I think most of you have a page on Facebook! For those that do what are your thoughts regarding Jens Nappy cakes who is advertising for people to promote her nappy cakes in different regions up & down the country.
Be interested to know what you think!I Love My Computer Because My Friends Live In It0 -
Lovely cakes Jojo, It's always nice to see new ideas!
A bit of a survey! just out of interest. I print a little pic of every cake I sell so I can tell at a glance which has been the better sellers etc. I keep girls, boys, unisex separate.
Anyway, couldn't believe that I havn't sold 1 cake for a girl that isn't PInk
Have made lemon, lilac etc but to no avail.
Boys have fared a bit better where I have sold other colours than just blue.
Am interested to know what colours all you girls are selling?
I am even considering "only" making pink ones for girls now. (I make my cakes up to sell rather than get orders in first)0 -

Personally I also think it is wrong, and looking at some of her things, some of them look unfinished, and wonky ribbons etc, I know sometimes it is hard to get things perfect but surely you would make an effort to get nice photos to promote your business?Lovely cakes Jojo, It's always nice to see new ideas!

I have only ever sold pink ones to girls, I have to say when my DD was born, I swore she would never be in all pink, but that soon changed and I think with boys it is so nice to see them in other colours but baby girls they always look the cutest in pink
Jojo lovely cakes.Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Thanks Rusty!
I thought I would make a few other colours for girls to vary it a bit (such as lemon one belowI made a while ago)
The ribbon is pinky lilac, though it looks lilac.
I suppose it's only natural to think of pink if you definately know you are having a girl but some of the modern stuff that is coming through now for babies are horrible colours.
Oops! Sorry it's so big!0 -

Well given thE choice I would definitely prefer this one to a pink! I know what you mean about horrible colours! I keep ranting about this latest fashion of short sleeve jumpers!!!!! They don't keep you warm so what's the point! Can't get nice jumpers now that have long sleeves! Lol completely offtopic!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

Totally with you!! What is the point of a jumper with no sleeves??? I only wear jumpers when it is cold, same as the short ones, not only do I want my arms covered I also want my midriff covered - its COLD!! (Yup, def getting old)0 -

Hi
I wonder if someone could point me in the right direction for some easy to follow instructions for a complete newbie? I made my friend a baby basket and a cross stitch when she had her last baby and she is expecting again in Nov. The cross stitch is underway but I was hoping to have a go at a nappy cake instead of a basket this time, but could use some help (well a lot of help actually lol)
Thanks
