Twinkle, I have been going for about 8 months and have tried to do as many fairs / shows etc as I can. I got leaflets and business cards made so when ever anyone said the famous words "I wish I knew someone having a baby" I give them a card and tell them to hang onto it. And I have had phone calls, I always ask where people got my number / e-mail from. I also stock in a baby shop, garden centre, habersdashery shop and a gift shop so a bit of a mixture. I approach shops that look right if that makes sense and also that have room!! I find a lot of business comes from businesses with people going on mat leave so maybe target some big businesses around you with lots of women in? x

Thank you all so much for your comments, you have given me some new ideas. I do intend doing a couple of the local junior school xmas fairs. I think I was just having a bit of a wobble today. Probably need to give it a bit more time for word to spread a bit. I really need to dedicate a bit more time to it and get out there and target some retailers but it is hard working around the children.

Has anyone made a christening cake before? I have one to go to and think a nappy cake would make a nice gift.

ohh even more good news.. my website is now on the 2nd page of google (thanks to alot of hard work from my other half) onward and upwards (hopfully)

Has your OH got any tips? Its for my husbands shops website that i'm in the process of designing.

not exactly a cake but was asked to make a baby boy basket with WTP things




the couple that ordered it,it was for them,they were the most expressionless (if thats a word) customers i have ever had,made me feel quite rubbish as it took me time to shop around for all the bits,2 days in fact.had to hunt down the bloody booties as they specified what they wanted WTP.they were happy with it as they didn't say they weren't,they was rather miserable when they dropped the deposit off last week,must just be the way they are

It looks lovely Hollie, some people are just funny! One of my closet friends said she hated nappy cakes when I first started doing them, that upset me, luckily that's not the opinion of most people!!
