In answer to pp, could you not use the cotbed blanket as the bottom tier? Swirl it around a bottle / bottle of baby wash?

(I would like to post a pic of the sucessful one, can anyone tell me how to please? :) )

Thankyou for that idea that sounds good and I will definately try it.
I had a look at your nappy cakes and they are beautiful hun you should be really proud. Where did you get the blue and white towells from? And also the cellofane?

chinesedeli - thank you :) It was my first attempt, I was sat on the floor making it up at 38 weeks pregnant, I must have looked a right sight!:rotfl:

I used a white towel with blue zebra on it from Home bargains, and a blue fluffy blanket from Primark. I got the cellophane from Hobbeycraft, but have found some on ebay that I think works out cheaper. I will let you know when it arrives if it is any good, and who I bought it from.

For the bottom layer I put bath products in the centre of my cake board (2 johnsons top to toe wash and one bubble bath) surrounded by nappies. Then in the top tier I put dummies and a baby cutlery set in the centre wrapped in two baby vests. Then surrounded it in nappies, placed a baby vest over the top to make the top of the cake look neater, and then wrapped the blanket and towel around and secured with the ribbon. Then I put the money box on top with some sock roses.

    Hth :)

Thanks AugustsMummy that really helps alot, I thought that you were going to say the towels were from John Lewis or something! They look well expensive! I am going to go and get some they really are beautiful. Where do you get your cake stands from? x
  • I got a cake board from ASDA in their cooking aisle.
It was about 70p I think. I only needed one as the roled up nappies and bottles were enough support for the top layer.

Thinking about your layer of a cotbed blanket, you could line the blanket with nappies to give it strength. if that makes sense lol.

  • Oh and Matalan have some lovely patterned blankets in at the mo, and hooded towels. Well worth a look, they are £3 in there.

Thankyou, if I line the blanket with nappies do I just pull the blanket over the top of the nappies and sort of tuck it in?

Hiya if have a big cot blanket instead of using nappies for the bottom tier you could just roll the blanket up like you do for towel cakes?
just an idea as may not look as bulky with nappies and then the blanket as cot blankets are very big more like a bath sheet
