I was just wondering, after getting some lovely reduced clothing in Asda for a £1, if anyone used sleepsuits, fleecesuits etc to cover the layers?

I'm a newbie to posting on the thread and a relative newbie to cake making. .....but have used a bodysuit to cover the top layer, have also used them in place of a couple of nappies in middle layer, when I got them donated for a specific cake ....

I'm trying to work out how to post pictures .....when I do I'll share !!!
    2009 total raised £2373.60:j
the new garden beat me in 2010 just £1306.66:o
    2011 - 365 £ a day.
Life Changing October 2011 - DF & £10000 saved - twins came - no plans
2013 - twins now 14 mths old - lets get sorted!

    Hiya

I often use bodysuits to cover the layers, and sometimes sleepsuits however i hate folding sleepsuits they never go right so quite often end up in the middle LOL i have bee known to take a pic so the customer can see the nice ones :-)

Have just watched a video on you tube re making a nappy cake as wanted something a little different as a present. The lady used clear elastic bands around the nappies, looked on ebay but cant see any - can anybody point me in the right direction please.

You can get packs in Wilkinsons there hair bands and there called TPU bands loads in a bag for a £1.00. You will find them on the kids hair band racks :D

  • Well after much research and attempting to read most of this thread (and bits of the old one!), I made my first nappy cake and am giving it to my SIL this afternoon - hope she likes it!

Whilst I am much more of a lurker than a poster, I just wanted to say thanks for all your tips and for sharing your fabulous cakes!

Here is mine before it was wrapped in cellophane (be gentle with me!):

I have my first order. Its for a rangers 21st towel cake. Yikes.... totally cant believe it. The lady also wants to give me the items to be used, well apart from the towels. Best go and look at some vids of now to make one!
