    Doh!
I never thought of using the ribbon to hold it together whilst rolling them - how stupid am I?!
Very clever Giggle - I shall give that a go next time I make a cake! :D

    Hi
Thank you all for your help and guidance - this thread is amazing. Anyway I have made my first Nappy Cake for my Aunt's grandaughter. I'm thinking of taking it into my DS2's Nursery and seeing if they will display it to see if I can get any orders. Has anyone else got business this way?

Not sure about the little booties as they are more cream than white but all other white ones I found were expensive. What do you think?

    and wrapped

    P1020922.jpg

    Costs:

16 size 3 "Pampers Simply Dry" Nappies £2.00
    Blanket - Matalan £3.00
    Bibs - Matalan £2.50
Reindeer - Asda (sale last year) £1.50
    Socks - Matalan (2pairs) £0.80
    Shoes - Asda £3.00

    Total Cost = £12.80

Was hoping to be more around the £10 mark so that I could sell for £15, especially as I would have to probably pay £3.00 for the cuddly toy now. I know I can reduce the cost of the nappies by buying in bulk but would like to get some orders before buying them. What do other people sell their Xmas cakes for? How could I reduce the cost more? The cost is also why I have not included any toiletries.

That is lovely but I would be looking for about £20 for that in my opinion. You have the cakeboard, cellophane,, ribbon etc. and your time.
  • Thanks Irlip - I forgot the cakeboard, 50p Morrisons, cellophane my hubbie got for me from Germany (2euros for 5m). Ribbon from my stash but will have to buy some new at some point. It's the little things that mount up I suppose.

    wheezysmith that is beautiful.....really christmassy!!

Nappies work out @ 9p each if you bulk buy them when asds/tesco have them on offer....like 2 for £18 size 3 102 in each box, that takes 40p? of your spend!!!

A big thank you to all those who post on the forum and make it a worthwhile place!!!:j

  • I did a 3 tier nappycake on friday for a friend and had to deliver it 30 miles as my hubby forgot to take it to work with him, i so wished i had charged a bit more for it now but hey ho it was our fault ( well hubbys)
Also forgot to take a proper photo of it i took one on my phone of it all wrapped up but it wasn't very good and i don't know how to get it off my phone and on the comp. I am sure i could email it but i can't work it out now.
On a good note as i had to take it to a hospital more people saw it and even though they had seen pics of my work they said it was better to see it in person so yes wheezysmith takje it to the nursery it's worth the try.
Out of my trip i have now had a order for a hamper. They wanted a cake really but they want loads and loads of the basics like bodysuits and sleepsuits so i thought a hamper would be better as i could put more in it for the money they want to spend on it. Also another lady said she may want one but in a few months time.
I will have to make sure i don't use up my stock as my little one is due in 6 weeks:eek:
:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boys :)
Want to be fit for 30 not fat at 30
    but i want never gets!!!
