Does anyone know where I can find "reasonably" priced, double walled boxes for posting cakes?
The problem is the size - I need 12 x 12 inch by at least 24 inch high.
The only ones I found worked out at about £3.50 each with delivery vat etc.

Yes - I can't find any nice blankets either - none of the places mentioned above are in my home town!! I did find a few nice ones in Ethel Austen and TJ hughes though. I bought loads of the primark ones - think I will have enough stock for some time!! They ae lovely though - very soft and fluffy!

Moonpenny- Boxes are flippin expensive!!!! I try to save any and reuse ones I get stuff delivered in if I can but its not always possible. Occasionally my local supermarket has had a few suitable ones in -I always check!! However the majority of these ae not double walled - I know double walled are stronger and some couriers ask that you use them but if yo uuse enough padding and bubble wrap it is sufficient. The ones I bought were from Staples cos I was desperate for some but I think they were just over £3 each Sorry not much help!!

Lovely cakes everyone -angelkay love that little doggy toy! Irlrip - gorgeous cake! I hate having to take them apart though if yo udont have the stuff.

Does anyone know where I can get some yellow socks at this time of year? Normally buy in Peacocks but they do not do them any more. I haven't got a BM or Dunnes anywhere near me in the south, more's the shame as they sound like they do fantastic bargains!

Heatons have socks on for £1.50 for 5 pairs or £2.00 for 5 pairs of grippy socks!! Did you try Asda or Tesco theyusually have loads of them! HTH

Hi Irlrip, I had to do exactly the same as you with a blue cake – take the blanket for another one. I bought a blue one from Primark but it was too pale for what I wanted so had to pinch one off another.
It’s a right pain! Don’t the shops think babies need to keep warm in winter? They will probably bring a load of furry ones out next summer!
Anyway, here’s the blankets I know about. You probably know as well!!!!

Primark - £3.50 – Pink, Blue and lemon
Matalan - £3 – Pink with mouse emb / Blue with teddy emb / plus patterned blue & pink. They also do a lovely cream one at £4. (Furry one side/ fleece the other with brown emb teddy)
    Asda - £3 – Cream / Pink / Blue teddy emb.
B&M - £2.49 – Cream / Pink / White Furry with satin edge, but they all have appliqu! on corner. They also do White knitted Shawls at £1.99. (I used similar on my Christmas cakes.)

    Primark - not one blanket
    Matalan - only cream
    Asda - Bambi and Tigger
    No B&M
    Sainsburys - cream

    The hunt continues !!!

dont know if it would be worth your while taking a cake with you see if they would stock them... you never know, it would prob be your best bet of getting a stockist in the town centre as most of the other shops are chainstores rather than independants  let me know how you get on as it might save me a trip into town if theres none or not worth the bother :)
