Hi carlymummy - Hat is lovely (furry and lined) from Next Outlet store, half price. Looked all over for mittens to match but couldn't find any.
Booties from Matalan.
They have some lovely new booties in Asda that I like better but are £1 dearer.0 -

I was thinking of trying this out as they do look lovely as I said (Im not having a go at anyone by the way) but Im bit concerned that by buying loads of disposables Im merely adding to the huge environmental problems that they already cause and wondered whether you all consider that before buying them or dont really think about it?
Ok - firstly people will buy them as a gift so they obviously are aware of the parents CHOICE (yes people really do have free choice whether to choose disposables or not) you also have a choice whether or not to use 'proper' nappies as you called them or disposables in your nappy cakes,
I refer to a study regarding the impact of disposables versus 'real' nappies
Disposable Nappies - No Worse for the Environment Than Cloth Nappies
- Environment Agency Report Shows There is Little or no Difference Between the Environmental Impact of Cloth Nappies and Disposable Nappies
A Government commissioned life cycle assessment (LCA), co-ordinated by the UK Environment Agency, has been published today and shows through independent analysis that disposable nappies have no greater impact on the environment than cloth nappies.
Specifically, the study confirms:
- Neither disposable or cloth nappy systems can claim overall environmental superiority
- The differences in the impacts between the three nappy systems(1) are not significant enough to voice support for one nappy type over the other on the basis of environmental factors alone.
The Environment Agency states "The study, which looks at and evaluates the environmental impacts arising from every stage of the life cycle of disposable and reusable nappies, found that there was little or nothing to choose between them...The study, which was carried out by independent environmental consultants, is the most comprehensive and thorough independent study of its kind ever undertaken."
Taking all into account I have no qualms in continuing to use disposable nappies - by the way as a busy working mum to 3 boys I also use disposables and always have done - shame on meProud mummy to 3 beautiful boys!0 -

Hi Brudie25.
No! I don’t have orders for any of my Christmas Cakes! (Yikes!)
That’s the way I prefer to work though – make them up how I want them to look than try and sell them.
I got all my xmas stuff in the sales back in January so feel I won’t lose anything by making them up (except time!) and if they don’t go, I shall remake them into “normal” cakes after Christmas.
Carlymummy, I think Next have similar hats in store now but obviously they will be dearer. (Keep in mind for the Jan sales!)
Matalan Booties are £2 but Asda are £3 – only seen them on-line at moment.0 -
lol moonpenny - sounds like me - I could sit and make cakes till the cows come home some days but I don't as no where to store them unless I am doing fairs (which I am at the moment!!) I have stuff all over the place -cakes finished, partially finished, not started and other random bits lol. Have had an xmas cake order though so thats one gone! Just hoping to sell some at the fairs over the next few weeks. Need to sell something to finish the xmas shopping lol!!!0

Thanks for this (I think) although not quite sure why you have written it in a manner which is extremely defensive particularly given that you have stated you have no issue with using disposables and therefore presumably shouldnt have to justify it to me or anyone else. As I stated if you had read my post, I wasnt having a go at anyone, just wondered what thoughts were on the subject.:smileyhea0 -
