Hi Girls, I need help QUICK! lol, I have been asked to make a lemon/white 2-tier cake for Thursday. I have the nappies, but I am wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction as to where I can find the following, preferably in lemon or lemon & white. The white isnt a problem, but I struggle finding lemon.

trying to avoid spending more than £12.00

    Soft blanket
    vest
    socks
    scratchmitts
    hat
    bootees
    wash cloths
    bibs
    brush/comb & rattle
    teddy

My local asda has lemon and green things in the baby fair!!

  • Thank you so much: Giggle, Butterfly, Irishgirl and Brudie. I really appreciate the compliment as yours are always lovely.
Butterfly: I chose the mint green because I do not know what sex the baby is, and I thought it was reasonably neutral. I'm glad you like it. :)
Brudie: I bought the teddy from TK Maxx. It was in the clearance section, I think it was £3.99. It is ever so soft, that is why I picked it! And the bunch of flowers in the teddy's hand were bought from a local ribbon stall. They were reduced too. :)

  • Lovely cakes everyone :)

I've been asked to 2 a 3 tier new home towel cake, the budget is £20 including shipping, i just dont know what i can do for that. The towels are £7.50, shipping is around £6. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do? I came up with an idea for a nice 1 tier one but she wants the 3 tier.

Vikki the cost price of my 3 tier cakes are £15.66 this includes all ribbons and cello. It also is cost of nappies at 14p each which are generally always around 9p
    They contain
    37 nappies
    blanket
    sleepsuit
    muslin
    vest
    teddy
    burp cloth

Remember if she wants a 3 tier then you are making nothing on it for your time.

My view would be to make it a 2 tier then use the teddy and class that as a 3 tier. your costs would then be a lot cheaper.

    Shipping would be around £8

  • Vikki - with shipping being £6 it is a bit tricky to do a 3 tier for £20 - I did a new home one a little while ago and used tea towels rather than towels - you can get quite nice ones in the pound shops - can reduce the price a bit and I used kitchen rolls & toilet rolls in the middle to make the shape - here are some photos - I did spend about £20 tho and that didn't include shipping cost but that was cos it was for my brother and so spent a bit more on the duck and things I prob wouldn't have if I was selling it!! HTH!

    Hi Vikki_Louise

My cake above was for a new home cake and I used kitchen utensils etc and some tea towels which were all quite reasonable, even including the trailing ivy plant.

The kitchen utensils are in the side of the cake and there's 4 small silver egg cups placed on top beside the ivy plant.

    Hope this helps

I'm working my way through this thread (up to page 50) and would just like to say thanks for all the pictures and ideas that you've posted. Both my nieces are pregnant so I'm going to attempt my first nappy cake!

While I was hunting around for little things to put in it I came across www.95pence.com and there's some nice little bits and pieces like Disney cutlery sets and Winnie the Pooh & Peter Rabbit melamine plates/bowls etc. They've also got a pink baby fleece, I'm not sure of the quality but it might be okay for covering the nappies?

As the name of the site suggests everything is 95p :D and postage isn't too bad at £1.95 or free if you buy 16 or more items postage is free. I've never bought from that site before and wondered if anyone else has?
