Vikki - with shipping being £6 it is a bit tricky to do a 3 tier for £20 - I did a new home one a little while ago and used tea towels rather than towels - you can get quite nice ones in the pound shops - can reduce the price a bit and I used kitchen rolls & toilet rolls in the middle to make the shape - here are some photos - I did spend about £20 tho and that didn't include shipping cost but that was cos it was for my brother and so spent a bit more on the duck and things I prob wouldn't have if I was selling it!! HTH!

Thanks for the nice comments about the xmas cake! Funny I don't do my ribbons and bows like that anymore as use satin ribbons on top now! It is a very economical way of doing them though as only use florists ribbon which is cheap as chips!
Some really great cakes on here at the mo, Onetreehillgrrl that is a fab cake and can't believe it's your first one!
Popkins I love the new house cake and the wedding cake is brilliant! My wedding towel cake was very simple by comparison! Mind you my uncle really did think it was real! :rotfl:Think he needs specsavers bless him!

Vikki I can only add that the towels on their own with a bit of ribbon and flowers is all you can do, could you try telling her you just can't do it for £20 inc p & p? My cake above was just the towel bale set (normally £7.50 but bought in the sale for £5.47) and 2 additional face cloths to bulk out the top tier but that could just as easily have been a cheap tea towel instead, then just ribbon and silk flowers.

Well girls I went shopping and spent going on 5 hours! Came back with, Yellow Teddy, 2 pairs scratch mits, 2 pairs bootees ,Brush & Comb (white & yello) - Tesco, 5 pk socks (assorted colours including lemon) , 2 teethers WTP - £ shop, 2 super soft blankets (creamy/yellow) from primark. 2 baby hats, 2 cake boards - Asda, couldnt get lemon bibs or white ones or washcloths anywhere. Off shopping again today I guess.
  • Don't know if this might help anyone or not but I was just searching online for some cheap towel bales had the last lot from Plumbworld but they only had white or cream and stumbled across Studio 24?! They have towel bales 10 piece for £6.59 in their clearance in loads of colours. I have ordered a few to see what they like - quality wise. But thought I would let you all know x
Proud mummy to 3 beautiful boys! :D
