Never Grocery Shop again

I just discovered a wonderful thing.
A few weeks ago, much to my dismay, they removed the Morrisons in my town & put a Waitrose in its place. Although we werent happy, my husband & I went to check it out cuz, hey, we both work for a living, how bad could it be?
It was bad. I know people talk about the "quality" & all that but when I saw my husbands Seriously Strong Chedder was 4 times what we usually pay, I beg one to advise how the quality differs in this standard product. When I saw the quails eggs, I knew I had to get out of there; we're a stirfry family.
There is a Sainsburys on our way home, but it is far enough not to make it tangible at the weekend. So we go mid week & after a long day of working I just dont have the heart for it.
Luckily, others on my road felt the same way so people started having groceries delivered. To be honest I never thought of it before.
On Wednesday I had a weeks shopping delivered to my door. I ordered from Tesco, which is way too far out of our way to ever shop at personally, but this is the greatest thing. Because it was midweek, they charged just £3.99 for the delivery (it goes as high as £6.99 I believe depending on the time of week)
I did a like for like comparison online (I actually pulled up the same items at Tesco & Sainsburys) AND with delivery, its cheaper then us shopping at Sainsburys. This has revolutionised my life. Now, after work we can do whatever we want & not have to worry about going out to the store & waiting in icky queues.

I'm so glad to hear someone at last state that Tesco internet shopping has made an improvement to their life, rather then just criticising them all the time.
I feel the same. I live in a small Wiltshire village, about 20 miles from the nearest big supermarket and I am so grateful to Tesco for internet shopping. I have all the other big supermarkets in a 20 mile radius, but none, except Tesco will deliver to my village.
OK, they make the odd mistake, but a call to customer service always resolves the problem. The substitutions go wrong sometimes, but you're under no obligation to accept them - just hand them back to the driver for a refund. In nearly 2 years they have only been late once and they phoned to let me know and even then they were only 20 mins late.
They revolutionised my shopping habits and I am better able to manage my budget without having to face the temptations whilst walking around the store and you can still get all the BOGOFs and other offers given in store.
Oh, and with the online discount codes given on this site, the delivery charge is always covered. To be honest I would spend the equivalent in petrol with a 40 odd mile round trip every week anyway.
I wish you years of happy Internet shopping! :j0 -
I've only used Tesco.com occassionally. I had my DD when DS was 18mths old, it was fab not having to struggle shopping with the two children.
This week they are both ill so again Tesco came to the rescue. Google Blogspot for Tesco codes (sorry, daughter in my arms so I'm struggling to type). The codes for extra points work out best value.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -
My only regret is that I didnt think of this sooner. Do you guys tip your drivers? We're not sure what's appropriate.Debt & Mortgage free...0

Tesco delivery is great for me as i only drive a little moped so i can't carry a 'big shop' home. The delivery charge is cheaper than a taxi home from tesco, am going to find those codes for next time.
I have Tesco deliver to me once each month and do top ups on the moped, can fit a couple of bags on it.
I think it is great, it is hassle free and i can do my shopping while i'm at work (i have permission) and as i am the sort of person that impulse buys when i see a good offer (have been known to buy things i don't need just because they are on offer) it is saving me alot of money!Official DFW Nerd Club member no. 0190 -
I have always found Tesco's home delivery to be very reliable. I know others haven't been so fortunate, but I suspect it may be down to the individual area. If it hadn't been for Tescos, I would not have been able to do my Mother's grocery shopping for her for the past few years (in her 80's and infirm) because I live 4000 miles away! A godsend, frankly.

P.S. Even with the delivery charge, it has generally been cheaper because it forces you think, really think, about what you want/need and stops those impulse buys. I wish I had that service here in the so-called advanced USA.0 -
Can only add to the accolades, apart from the Esco wine promo recently which was very disappointing - big order, checkd that morning that it would all be delivered and only one case out of 4 arrived......... Being resolved with CServices.
But it is wonderful to have all the heavy stuff delivered and they even take away the carrier bags to recycle, so I don't have to store and recycle myself!! Overall, good savings in money and time and effort!!!Everything in moderation..............including moderation..............0
