  • I blew my budget on sunday, £17.46 in Ald* and £50.71 in Mr A, so I am over budget and we don't start July until Tuesday.

I am determined to do better in July, I want to clean out the freezer so we will be eating whatever is in there before I buy a lot of new stuff.

I will keep my budget at £300 next month and see how I go.

Am declaring at £178.88 for June, just a little over but considering it was the month I joined Costco it is quite good.

For July I will be trying for £150.00 which should see us through. We only have one blip which is a long weekend in Dorset for BILs 60th bithday party.

We are starting to get a few treats out of the garden - strawberries and raspberries for pud last night and we will have broad beans this weekend and our first tub of new potatoes. The toms in the hanging basket have set beautifully, and the rest of the vegies are coming along nicely.

Hope everyone has had a decent month, hugs to you and your Mum MrsM, and any others who need them.

Hi all,I'm declaring at £314.71 so £25.29 for the holiday pig but I'll total that at the end of the month.I seem to be coming under budget most months but I find the first week I'm good, second week I go mad, third week I desperately try to reign in and the last week I find really easy.Perhaps I thrive on the panic?:confused:I've been really busy today bread making, roll making and sausage cooking for our holidays on Sunday. Its a looonnng drive so I heat up a thermos of cooked sausages, take HM buttered rolls and we stop for brekkers after 4 hours. We get some envious looks in carparks I can tell you.Any way should be a fair few pages to catch up on when I get back in a couple of weeks.Good luck for July everyone.See ya soon!

Glad to hear your Mum has been treated as quickly as she has Mrs Mc - must be a weight off the minds of all your family.

And it sounds like the hospital is more like a posh hotel !!!!

Wishing speedy recoveries to both your Mum and OrkneyStar's

On the GC front, I'm really struggling to compile a £30 shopping list to use the last of my Mr M vouchers tomorrow

I already have enough pasta (fusilli, macaroni, spaghetti and lasagne sheets) and rice to last until at least the end of the year. The same with washing powder (supplemented with soap nuts), washing up liquid, bin bags, kitchen foil, toilet rolls and cleaning solutions (loads already in, plus the Stardrops I've since discovered)

My cupboards are all heaving, and I have boxes of food in other places too. I've made a list of everything in 5 of my cupboards, and while I still have another 4 to do (plus my spices) I really can't see as how I'm missing anything there (apart from one casserole mix to cook up some chicken thighs my neighbour passed over :T )

I've also defrosted, repacked and listed everything in both my freezers. I actually have one whole empty drawer (unheard of in the last 8 months), but am just starting off a batch of steak & kidney to freeze in portions (will make at least 8, hopefully 10) and will have 4 portions of chicken casserole to go in at some point tomorrow. Looking at what's in there the only things I definitely need to get me to the end of July are a bag of value sausages (probably worth getting 2, as DS is making himself sausage barms for brunch couple of days a week now college has finished for the 3 month summer break), a box of fish fingers, a bag of oven chips, and possibly a bag of frozen mixed veg. Plus we'll have pizza at some point, but I was considering trying to make my own bases next time around (for which I already have everything in).

DS will be looking for more ice-cream in the next few days though, 'cos I don't think the vanilla I have in will last longer than that - and I know he's hoping I'll pick up some mint-choc-chip tomorrow ;)

    I never thought I'd see the day I couldn't spend £30 in a supermarket :rolleyes2

    Hi all,
    Declaring £170 for June.
Decided just to use Lidl and Netto for the month, with only emergency use of Mr T for favourite items that I ran out of so have done well to come in under budget.
I'll set up on July now - see you there
Mortgage free as at 1/9/13 :j

More spends of £7.17 in Morrisons (Bread, scourers, mince and a sandwich)

I also spent £21.43 in Tescos on the following:

Massive bag of cat biscuits (Should last till next payday)
    Binbags
    Matches
    Yoghurt
    Mushrooms
    2 x whole chickens (£2 each)
    Super Noodles
    Kidney beans

The most expensive part of that shop was the cat stuff!

I'm not sure if I'll declare yet as I might end up doing a little more shopping.

I've updated my sig to show I've spent €128.84 so I'm within my limits. I'm quite well stocked up with plenty of stuff for healthy dinners.

    Yesterday I bought:

    • Rainbow trout (enough for 4 meals)
    • Lots of veggies including some nice organic spinach
    • Quinoa - I've had it once in a salad and it was tasty and filling
    • A kilo of tomatoes - I'm addicted to them these days!
    • Organic milk - enough to see me through the next week
    • A kilo of of organic wholewheat pasta. Quite cheap and very tasty and filling
    • Organic porridge - pleased cos I found a cheap brand almost the same price as non-organic. That's my breakfasts sorted and I might make some of Twink's yummy hob-nobs.
    • Fruit - I treated myself to some cherries and strawberries as well as the normal stuff. Got 100% extra free on my kiwis in Tesco so they will keep me going a while.
Now I must go and do my meal plan and see if I need to buy anything else.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Sorry for the late declaration but DD1 was taken into hospital on Thursday with suspected appendicitis and I am all over the shop! They're not sure what's wrong at the moment so she's under observation, but may be sent home (i.e. to us) tomorrow. Anyway, I managed to come in under budget by a mere 36p in June but at leat it's not 36p over!

    Final declaration is therefore: £299.64.

Will see you all over in the July challenge.
